Nine miles, it’s a minimal care facility that does have an emergency room. The last time I needed an ambulance, it took them 45 minutes to drive the 9 miles to our place, about 20 to load me, and another 15 to get me there. Wife and I agreed the next time she’ll drive me there, phone the ambulance while enroute, and just keep on trucking until we meet.

My primary care physician and a shopping mall is 90 miles away. Nearest dealership that works on our brand of car is 200 miles away.

This is not a worry of mine. Lotsa people would freak out over a situation like this, I’m just not one of them. Freedom is too important to lose just to cover all the “what if’s”, “maybe”s and other things worry warts worry over that make them submissive city dwellers.

I would wager that the crime in your neighborhood is MUCH higher than the crime in mine.

Agriculture in Illinois is already bankrupt because Illinois is bankrupt due to the drain known as Chicago.

As to traffic levels, I’ve never seen insanity as being an evidence for anything good. :D

I grew up in Milwaukee, Moved to DC. Have spent time in many major cities in the US except for NYC (I refuse to go to that hell hole, Although I was on long island briefly). I have never found a city larger than 100,000 that was livable. And most cities lose their “livability” once the population gets over about 10,000.

Put too many people together and they go insane.

Never been to the Burgh before, thought I’d put it on my phuket list and see me some locks and dams! AND, I assume there is a Terry Bradshaw museum or two to see too. I’d even buy you and BF dinner if you’d let us.

Now that sounds like a plan! Would love to see you and Mrs. S.

Seriously, the ‘Burgh isn’t as bad as the article makes out. It’s nice to visit, anyway. No Terry Bradshaw museum that I know of, though.

No Terry Bradshaw museum? Then we’d have to visit the Shirley Jones museum, I’m sure there’s got to be a Partridge Family or Music Man park with David Cassidy walking around no? hehehe... If we ever do come it’s a date. Same for you guys if you come to DC.

LOL! No Shirley Jones museum, either. However, BF once dragged me to a classic car auction in Smithton (a good 30 miles from Pittsburgh) that was held at the Jones family brewery.

There is a Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana, PA, and of course there’s a Mr. Rogers Exhibit in the Heinz History Center.
