I agree. Blaming our laws for incarceration rates is like blaming food for obesity.
I think this is just a cynical attempt by Trump to swing some more black voters over to him. I’m not going to get that crazy over it since it’s not a key issue for me. I suspect that because it is an animating issue for many African-Americans, he figures it’s a no-lose proposition.
In a sense, I can’t really blame him. He’s looking to lock away re-election early, which is smart. If he can cleave away 25% of the black vote with this gesture, the Democrats are finished before the race even starts.
If there is any justice in the Justice department, on the morning of November 7th Sleepy Sessions
will find that as a former employee he is denied access to the Justice Department offices.

The courts should have been ignored. We have a full on invasion underway. California is all but conquered and they’re providing a foothold for the subsequent takeover of the rest of the United States.
The corrupt state and the left are on the march(AT WAR). Couple that with the illegal invasion and it’s a 2 pronged attack that is at this very moment snuffing the life out of America. Very little time left.
That is the failure of the AGs or prosecutors and their plea bargaining.
If they want the criminal to say in jail, they need to convict him of something other than a non-violent drug offense.
It is both politically brilliant and sound policy. If you have money and you get arrested for non violent crimes, chances are you serve long term prison sentences. If you have money and Daddy can hire a big-time attorney, you get probation and suspended sentences. Violent Criminals, Murder, rape, armed robbery, no early parole, no lenient sentences. Non violent offenders we should change sentencing guidelines and use more community service penalties. It would be a benefit to people with lower economic means (all groups), it would address a concern that many black Americans have about sentencing fairness (Cut right at the Dems) and save all of us tons of money. Those cost savings can be used for job training for those who want to improve themselves and used for other important priorities.

It was the Congressional Black Caucus, during the "crack epidemic" in the 80s that wanted higher penalties for crack in order to discourage minorities from doing crack.
30 years later........those penalties designed to protect blacks is now rasis.
There’s some truth in that.
I agree it is inexcusable, but electric chair? At least you said anyone, vs. just Ms. Johnson should have gotten the chair. I believe the Death Penalty should only be used for Murder. If you are going to put Coke Pushers to the chair, what about Big Tobacco Executives, what about the Jack Daniels Distributors. Lots of people die of Smoke related and Alcohol related causes every year as well.
Were those penalties for dealers are those who got addicted and busted for possession. Dealers, I am all for strict penalties. Those with possession related charges as long as they have no violent crimes that they were also convicted for, I am all for sentencing reform. Again, I think we need to distinguish those who are dealers and sellers, who should be in jail, and those who are non-violent offenders who may be in jail for long sentences related to possession of drugs. Again, I think Trump is talking about sentencing reform for “non-violent” folks only.
But i do not see this being reported by the MSM recently, while we have these predictions prior to this:
