Sure there is....don’t buy it.
Perhaps a deal where we sell/give our corn to starving 3rd world $h!tholes.
“there is no positive reason to add ethanol to gas”.. ?? you need to move your chair closer to the front of the class. theres plenty ($$$$) of reasons ($$$$) to add ethanol ($$$) to gasoline ($$$). Its $$$ leaving ($$$) your pocket($$$) and going to ($$$) the ethanol ($$$) producers who came to power with Clinton ($$$$) got more power with Bush ($$$$) and made ethanol ($$$$) added to gas ($$$) almost bullet proof with obama ($$$$$$$$$$$$$). now trump ($$$$$$) is on the $$$$$$$$ wagon. its all about the money, dummy!! add one of the nastiest human rights and biggest anti human monsters on the planet to the equation...mon$$$$$$anto . they produce gmo corn seed. Monsanto would be my 100% bet to bring out soylent green to your local supermarket if they could. Sooooo you still thing there’s no good reason to add ethanol to gasoline? thats because you’re on the wrong side of the equation.
Something...it just seems wrong to me, the incentives to produce ethanol, the whole distribution system is different, the corrosive effects, the cost effectiveness, the effort with water, landspace and fertilizers.
Just doesn’t seem the way to approach it. I readily admit, not being a farmer, I could be wrong-headed on this, but it doesn’t fit intellectually for me.
“Agree! There is no positive reason to add ethonol to gasoline.”
I also agree with this, but I am thinking there is a plan afoot. First things first though, win every rat house and senate seat in the plains.
It’s funny you say this.
I HAVE broken down the mileage I am supposed to be getting and the mileage I AM getting.
It is about 5 miles a gallon off.
I wonder what type of gas they base the mileage on.
And it seems from what you say, that it does matter.
thanks.
Ethanol has a greater affinity for water than gasoline.
You add water to the gasohol
Shake it up.
Let it settle.
Drain out the water with the ethanol.
Leaving alcohol free gasoline
DP0622, The EPA drive cycle may have been changed, it wasn’t real world, you may want to research that system vs. real world numbers, I am sure Consumer Reports and or others have opined as to what we really can expect in the real world.
Yep.
My company car is a 2011 Ford Edge. I’ve experimented a couple of times and have found that regular gas without ethanol will give me about 3 MPG better mileage.
Having said that, I’ve got about 237K miles on this vehicle and have not a single engine problem running E-10.
The first sign of a society gone mad is when they start to burn their food for any reason except to not freeze to death.
Thanks.
I will investigate.
I was going to buy the car either way most likely.
But the mileage numbers did impress me for a power car and did have some small part in me being it over other fast cars.
On a side note, I’ve owned a number of sports cars.
I don’t know if this Challenger is one. It is MUCH too big and high off the ground to take turns at any real speeds.
It is, however, FURIOUS on a straight path.
Also, the exhaust has been upgraded to add another 35 HP. Now it is LOUD AS HECK. I love it :)
And I can go over curbs when I need a short cut without worrying :)
Boat owners everywhere will not like this
There may be good political reasons for expanding ethanol usage. There are no good non-political reasons.
This is bad....I was hoping they would remove this crap altogether not make it worse!!!
I hate - HATE - ethanol, wind, and solar subsidies. But we’ve got bigger fish to fry first so I’m ok with the politics of this. For now.
I agree, and wonder why Trump is in favor of it. Do you think there’s more to the story?
I don’t like ethanol in my car. I also deplore the idea of taking food and converting it to car fuel...So here are my questions.
1. Is ethanol made from corn and other eatable crops, or is it made from the waste products, eg corn cobs, and corn stalks?
2. Is it true that it actually takes more energy to produce ethanol than what it saves?
3. Does ethanol improve mpg? If not, then why are we using it?
4. Does ethanol contribute to higher prices for food? (meat, corn based products etc etc.)
5. Does the gov’t subsidize this industry or can it make it on its own?
6. In summary, what are the facts about this?
Ethanol corn DOES use land that could otherwise be used to grow food. It requires more fertilizer and WAY more water than other crops. There is debate on how much it increases the cost of other food (farmers growing ethanol corn instead of soybeans for example, or feed stock for cattle).
Ok, so can you then take the diluted ethanol/water mixture and distill it down to say like 150-175 proof to use for more conventional alcohol burning devices?
Corn is bad for cows.
