Oakland councilwoman claims city bungled case against her from ex-Black Panther

Oakland City Councilwoman Desley Brooks filed a complaint against her own city and the city attorney Tuesday, alleging they failed to adequately defend her in a legal battle with ex-Black Panther leader Elaine Brown that cost Oakland more than $2 million.

The complaint doesn’t specify the amount of damages Brooks is seeking from the city. It alleges she “suffered an unjustified award of monetary damages, grave harm to her reputation, and extreme emotional distress” because of Parker and her deputies.

So two black ladies, one an ex Black Panther and the other a City of Oakland council member get in a fight in a bar. One is injured and sues the city for millions. The other has her reputation damaged and sues the city for millions. Somehow I think that privileged white males living in Oakland will pay both bills.
