Give Us The Wall: House GOP Plans Full Blown Legislative Assault On Illegal Immigration
Townhall.com ^ | October 10, 2018 | Matt Vespa

Maybe there are three dividends that Republicans are reaping from their victory over liberals during the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court fight. The base is jacked up for the midterms, we confirmed Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, giving conservatives a SCOTUS majority for the next generation, and it allowed the House GOP leadership to get some chutzpah on fighting illegal immigration. Yes, you read that, right? We’ve demanded a wall, going after sanctuary cities, securing the border, and enforcing current federal immigration laws. Now, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pretty much promised full legislative offensive against illegal immigration (via CBS News):

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he will introduce a bill this week to fully fund a border wall between the United States and Mexico. Building the wall is a campaign promise and rallying cry for President Trump, whose support McCarthy may be seeking as the frontrunner to be the next speaker of the House.

McCarthy is sponsoring the "Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act," which would dedicate over $23 billion to building the border wall. The bill would also include measures to cut off funds for sanctuary cities and to facilitate deportation and detention of immigrant gang members. Breitbart, a right-wing news site, first reported that McCarthy would introduce the bill.

"For decades, America's inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created a huge loophole to the legal channels to the immigration process where America welcomes immigrants to our country," he said in a statement to Breitbart.

Congress has already given $1.6 billion to build the wall, although Mr. Trump has often said at rallies that this is insufficient funding. According to Breitbart, McCarthy is hoping to leverage his bill as an issue in the midterm elections in order to rally Trump-supporting Republican voters.

We’ll see what happens. It’s promising that the GOP is moving on this, but as always—watch out for the moderate wing to foul things up for us. We very well could fumble the football at the goal line. But at least there’s some movement on an issue, where Trump and the GOP have to deliver. We botched a full repeal of Obamacare, which still stings—but this is a wall. It’s not an expensive proposal considering what gets passed nowadays. It’s clear-cut. If we cannot get a wall built to help secure our borders, what good are you, GOP.

Actually, we do need a wall. It keeps gangs, drugs, terrorists, and deportees out. Walls work.

While we're at it, can we wall *in* California?

yes i want a wall too, but like I said we don't NEED a wall, a wall alone will not work, they will find a way over under around or through it It would just be another tool in the arsenal. A way expensive tool for what it does.

I would like to see an army AND a wall....oh and GO AWAY yourself if you want

If they could fix the Mexican government and stop the corruption where the government is a branch of the gangster cartels, then the hard working family loving BASICALLY GOOD people of Mexico would be happy to stay home and go to work each day and would have no desire to find a way around the Fantasy Wall which if even ever built will most likely be intermittent and inneffective bits and pieces which will help control crossing near big cities, but the real bad guys will still find a way around.

Nobody said a unmanned stand alone wall that is unmanned would work. That is not how professionals look at it. The wall is a much needed “force multiplier”. ( Do you know what that means? )

Now, now central_va, that’s not nice talk...

Are we cross?

Fact is a wall will not rid us of the parasites already here; breeding, raping, killing, destroying property, poisoning the culture and our politics.

Second, the drug cartels, human traffickers, and your garden variety illegals will find a way to go over, go though, go under, or go around whatever wall is built - IF it is ever built.

We don’t need a wall, we need RINOs to find the guts to do the job they’re obligated to do. The problem is the gutless Republicans and anti American Democrats, not a physical barrier on the borders.

That’s just something you’ll have to come to terms with my dear.

Oh, and try to clean up that potty mouth.

We need a wall. We want a wall.

Corporate globalists(redundant) users of cheap illegal labor don't want a wall.

If the previous admin would have let the BP do its job, eliminate all those ‘sanctuary’ cities, deny any sort of benefits you’d better believe there’d only be a trickle coming across which would have been easy to handle. The other thing would have been to warn Mexico who allows these ‘immigrants’ access to their country to cross and come in here.

I’m not saying do not build a wall, I’m saying deny any illegal any benefit and they’ll self deport.

Yep and in the meantime go after those sanctuary cities and cutoff all benefits. Sick? Here’s and aspirin. Hurt yourself? Here’s a Band-Aid - and there’s the border. Have a nice day.

If they had done this two Years ago we wouldn’t be scrambling now.

In addition, there are many American Citizens who would still be alive today had they done their Jobs.

No the wall is a tangible thing that shows the citizen the govt is following the will of the people and in this case it’s to secure the border. The wall is so important it’s a barrier and a symbol. We need the great Wall of Trump. It’s a big deal

By “we”, I mean patriotic Americans that have critical thinking skills.

A trait you sadly lack.

The senate will be the problem. The bill will not recive the support of 60 senators.

That is by design. The Democrat Senators will be exposed as being anti America.
