The Miss America Organization has reportedly stripped at least four states of their licenses and threatened over a dozen more with probation — but it's staying tight-lipped as to why.
The Associated Press reports the organization is purging "rebellious state officials" who want the pageant's current leadership to step down. Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and one other unnamed state have lost their licenses, and — for now — won't be able to participate in the national pageant.
This is a lot to unpack, so bear with us. In December, former CEO Sam Haskell stepped down after leaked emails showed he and several board members exchanged sexist and vulgar emails about contestants. Former Fox News host, and Miss America 1989 Gretchen Carlson then stepped in to lead the organization in January.
Fast-forward to August — Miss America 2018 Cara Mund released a letter accusing Carlson and the organization's CEO Regina Hopper of silencing and bullying her. Carlson denied the allegations.
Dozens of states and former Miss America winners backed Mund's claims, criticizing Carlson and Hopper for how they're running the organization, which included removing the swimsuit portion of the competition. Overall, 46 of the 51 state-level pageant organizations have called on the two leaders to resign.
The four states who had their licenses stripped have to replace their current leadership and turn over scholarship money to the organization.

If I’m reading this correctly, Gretchen Carlson is a control freak, making enemies left and right.
She was the wrong person for this job, because she has an agenda. It seems Gretchen wants to ‘punish the men’ by taking any eye candy aspect of the pageant away. Ms. Carlson should have started her own separate awards program for women, based on academia or charitable works overseas. Such a contest does not even need to be televised.
Carlson will have that org. completely destroyed in another year or two.
Perhaps next year she will go for the Burka wear instead of the Bikinis.

Gretchen Carlson has been getting terrible press, since taking the leadership position over Miss America.
I’m not especially a fan of Gretchen, but, standards and dignity are certainly her calling card. Miss America organization knew that, when they placed her in the big chair. ( Her standards, after all, were Page One news, for six months, against FOX.)
She has zero tolerance for misogyny and sexism, but Gretchen doesn’t have a budget to defend herself against pigs and Leftists.
She’s a reason why BOR is no longer on Fox. They know that no swimsuit competition is toxic for ratings. They will learn. It’s just a TV show.
