Global warming: How you can help the environment right now
CBS "News" ^ | October 9, 2018

Scientists say climate change is getting worse and there could be "life-or-death" consequences for our planet in the next 20 years. The new report from the U.N. predicts that at the current warming rate, millions more people will die from extreme heat by the year 2040.

So are there practical ways we can help limit the warming? According to New York Times international climate reporter Somini Sengupta, the answer is yes:

* Drive less, try to carpool or use public transit instead.

* Buy less clothing, as apparel and footwear industries contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, or buy vintage and clothes made from recycled fabric .

* Replace air conditioners and refrigerators with ones that save energy and reduce hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

* Have less demand for products that lead to deforestation including meat, timber, soy, and palm oil.

The report highlights how the world needs "rapid and far-reaching" changes in energy systems, land use, city and industrial design, transportation and building use. It also suggests shifting away from fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas.

If you’re worried about being one of the millions dying of extreme heat in 2040, wouldn’t it be better to kill yourself now? Why suffer like that? You would also be witness to earth’s destruction. Intolerable!

***could be “life-or-death” consequences for our planet in the next 20 years.***

But they were saying this twenty five years ago! We only had TEN YEARS! Then we passed “The Tipping Point!” And today we are told we only have TEN YEARS! Now we again have twenty years?

I was going to say, the best way to bring your consumption to zero is suicide. Sure, there's some immediate resource consumption(funeral/casket/urn, etc.), but other than out gassing some C02 as you rot, you're essentially, carbon neutral. You could also choose to accelerate your decomposition by cremation so that in the space of a mere few days, your contributions to global warming would end! Win-Win, I say.

How about plugging up your cow’s butt to eliminate unnecessary methane. Make sure you tie your cow down so she doesn’t float away. Wait a minute. I should have included bulls in that so I’m not being sexist.

Get rid of all TV networks, like CBS, if you want to significantly reduce the hot air.

“Replace air conditioners and refrigerators with ones that save energy and reduce hydrofluorocarbons”

At great cost my local library installed one of those air conditioners that “save energy”. It works ok if you are standing or sitting still. But walk only a few inches in any direction and you start sweating.

I gotta great idea. Lets import millions of third worlders to first world countries so that they can increase their carbon footprints by thousands of percent.

Rescind the free-CO2-ride for China and India if you are serious about the CO2 scam.

Maybe Al Gore, rich Leftist politicians, and the Hollywood set could stop flying around in private jets, stop riding in big gas guzzling limousines, give up their yachts and palatial mansions that burn 40 or 50 times as much energy as the average American home.

Maybe climate change conferences could happen over the internet thus not requiring all that air travel and all those limos and hotels.

I wonder how much could be saved in carbon emissions. I’m betting quite a lot.

I shop at thrift stores. I donate my used stuff that can be reused. I have solar panels. I recycle my empty beverage containers. I reuse my grocery bags. I wash my clothes in cold water. I use an electric lawn mower. I have a whole house fan. I buy in bulk.

Most of this really helps the old bottom line. My reasons are selfish economics. So here I am conserving resources because I want more money to spend on other things. As a result I have a smaller “carbon footprint. “ Progressives hate this because it doesn’t require them to manage my consumption.

Walk, go naked, eat room temperature food, don’t buy anything. Yeah, that’ll help the “climate”.

None of those suggestions will make a measureable change in theoretical GW. In their reports they claim we need to shut down most of the world’s fossil fueled power plants and eliminate the internal combustion engine. Those things will send the ecomony back 100 years.

Liberals can save the environment by beating themselves to death in shallow pits lined with organic compost. . .
