Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), the lone Democrat who will vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was confronted by angry protesters outside his office after announcing his position.
Manchins answers to reporters justifying his position was drowned out by a group of women protesters chanting at him Look at us! and shame!
Manchin looked uncomfortable as he tried to hear reporters questions over the angry crowd.
Running for re-election in a state President Trump won by double digits, Manchin is considered a vulnerable Democrat.
Trump has endorsed state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) and has campaigned for him, despite Manchin working with Trump regularly.
Manchin said he empathizes with the victims of sexual assault but pointed to an FBI report that did not corroborate 36-year-old assault allegations against Kavanaugh.
Based on all of the information I have available to me, including the recently completed FBI report, I have found Judge Kavanaugh to be a qualified jurist who will follow the Constitution and determine cases based on the legal findings before him, he said in a statement released at 4 pm Friday.
Manchin was pressured by both sides about his vote.
Liberal activists occupied his West Virginia campaign office Monday afternoon demanding that he oppose Kavanaugh.
But a poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, a GOP survey firm, found West Virginians strongly favor Kavanaughs confirmation.
The poll conducted for the Judicial Crisis Network, a group that spent millions of dollars on ads supporting Kavanaugh, showed that 58 percent of West Virginians back Kavanaugh while 28 percent oppose him.
Bingo! Beat me to it. They couldn't even find it on a map. Just for fun, I'd like to send each of them a copy of that movie "Wrong Turn".
By now, these protestors (and that word should be replaced with something more sinister) ... it’s not about Judge Kavanaugh... he’s innocent.. all the evidence points to the woman being doubly wrong when she accused him.
He’s innocent.. and they won’t listen to truth.. to proof... they just want to hate him for crimes he didn’t do and it’s a proven fact.
It’s not about a man...any man... committing this crime. It’s about these wmmen wanting to do whatever it takes to be the head of the household.. the head of the business.. the head of anything.. and don’t dare anyone tell us any difference.
They want to keep the right to kill the unborn and they want to rule over everyone and everything. “I am woman, watch me roar”.
Husbands... men in general.. brothers .. sons... should take note.. you could be next.. they are gonna kill off all the men and all the conservatives.. with their hate.. (man, they are an ugly bunch of nuts!).. how alone they will be some day!
They should vote tonight before someone finds poor Manchin hanging from a tree
I would really laugh if Manchin’s final decision, besides knowing that Kavanaugh is totally qualified, was based on the fact that he wasn’t about to be intimidated by all those harpies yelling at him.
‘Look At Me’ sounds like an invite to get right in their face - up close - grinning.
Someone said it above, none of those protesters have ever set foot in W Va.
I love how Collins referred to her as “professor” as if deferring to use the “doctor” label. I don’t think she was aware that during speakeasy times, the guy who played a piano in a whore house was called a professor too.
That photo is a classic. LMAO.
I’m glad the protesters are FINALLY being called out and used as agitprop to fire up the base.
Is he ready to become a Republican yet?
If it's all the same, I'd prefer not to.
At least that guy performed a useful function.
“LOOK AT US”
OK, right after I stock up on eye wash. Lots of it.
Its open season on white men. More the reason double down on Kavanaugh.
I was also wondering if there could be a republican out of the blue who could vote no.
I won’t be satisfied until after the vote is done and also when he is sworn in.
It’s the X Files.
Ol’ Joe looked a little worried during the interview.
