WASHINGTON In the days leading up to a public allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh exposed himself to a college classmate, the judge and his team were communicating behind the scenes with friends to refute the claim, according to text messages obtained by NBC News.
Kerry Berchem, who was at Yale with both Kavanaugh and his accuser, Deborah Ramirez, has tried to get those messages to the FBI for its newly reopened investigation into the matter but says she has yet to be contacted by the bureau.
The texts between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage, both friends of Kavanaugh, suggest that the nominee was personally talking with former classmates about Ramirezs story in advance of the New Yorker article that made her allegation public. In one message, Yarasavage said Kavanaugh asked her to go on the record in his defense. Two other messages show communication between Kavanaugh's team and former classmates in advance of the story.
In now-public transcripts from an interview with Republican Judiciary Committee staff on September 25, two days after the Ramirez allegations were reported in the New Yorker, Kavanaugh claimed that it was Ramirez who was calling around to classmates trying to see if they remembered it, adding that it strikes me as, you know, what is going on here? When someone is calling around to try to refresh other people? Is that whats going on? Whats going on with that? That doesnt sound that doesnt sound good to me. It doesnt sound fair. It doesnt sound proper. It sounds like an orchestrated hit to take me out.
The texts also demonstrate that Kavanaugh and Ramirez were more socially connected than previously understood and that Ramirez was uncomfortable around Kavanaugh when they saw each other at a wedding 10 years after they graduated. Berchem's efforts also show that some potential witnesses have been unable to get important information to the FBI.
Beyond ridiculous.
HOW did they get Brett’s TEXT MESSAGES??? WHO on his team did this?
this thread has been post 10000000000000000000 times. SEARCH!
Investigate ChiDiFi and Schmuckie.
Yes.
And this is bad...how, exactly?
Oh, I see. It’s just NBC “News” trying to make it sound bad.
Because if someone tried to sandbag me with a false allegation from college, you’re damned right I’d be talking with college friends, trying to figure out why this person is trying to destroy me with BS.
I call "Snarky".
I think I know how NBC got Brett’s text messages....his LAWYER, BETH WILKINSON, who is married to David Gregory!!!
Don’t do any good. Back in the old days the mods used to hammer folks posting stories multiple times.
Now days you’ll have the same story 5 or 6 times on the front page of News/Activism.
It’s like most of the folks don’t even read - just make posts.
Wake up, run to Drudge, post on FR. You can almost see the time zone change as people wake up and run to FR to post.
YMMV.
Started before the 2008 election but the was the peak of dog pilling.
Many, many Freepers faded away in that time period. The Tour de France and Survivor threads used to have many, many pages of posts by the time the show was over. Now we’re lucky to have one page.
The quarterly fundraisers used to take a couple of weeks - now they take 3 months.
The people that received them probably turned them ove. Texts go two ways.
I searched SCOTUS and nothing.
Searched Title and Keywords for “TEXT” or “KAVANAUGH” and nothing.
Please provide FR links/articles posted on this topic.
Gracias!
Well, all I can say is that I’ve aged somewhat over the last ~15 years....
And the CTH discussion software is a disaster, not even comparing it to Free Republic. On its own it is unwieldy, unable to be followed, and difficult to access.
Free Republic, otoh, has the best discussion software on the internet, far better even than facebook. If he ever sold it, JR would be a wealthy man.
Web analyst, Alexa, lists Free Republic as the #6 conservative site on the web. CTH is lower than #50.

For the record, I’m a huge fan of Sundance. His web site, however, really is lousy. Much easier to follow him on twitter.
Freepathons take so long because there are a lot of freepaloaders
Thanks for the comment detail.
The facts regarding “users” seem to be elusive.
I find FR to be more entertaining and useful and particapitive for posting, but I do wonder about the quantitative demographics.
Whose turn is it to re-post this article at 8 a.m. EDT? Seems like it shows up every hour.
I’m sure that I am totally in the Curmudgeon bin, as I am firmly a #NeverTwit.
SO WHAT!!!
