The fact is that Flake is leaving the Senate at the end of the term (because he realized he could not survive a primary this time round). What kind of hold does anyone have on him? He can do whatever he wants and no one can do a thing to him. So they have to treat him with kid gloves and hope that he will do the right thing, in spite of his hatred of President Trump.

There is no way that an FBI “investigation” of a teenage party 30 some odd years ago at a location and date unknown and all “witnesses” denying it ever happened is going to produce any kind of evidence that implicate Judge Kavanaugh. This may help get the Republican women Senators on board.
