Kavanaugh Hearing Was The Democrats' Worst Nightmare
townhall.com ^ | Sep 28, 2018 | Mark Davis

In almost forty years of broadcasting and writing, I’ve spent a lot of time tracking the fates of the Republican and Democrat parties. In recent years, the main conservative thirsts have been for a more muscular and unapologetic conservatism and for the bright light of truth to be directed onto the darkest habits of modern leftists.

The election of Donald Trump has propelled us down a road featuring satisfying helpings of both. But on one stunning day, September 27, 2018, there arose Republican resolve like nothing in recent memory. The accompanying reputational suicide of several key Democrats tied a bow around a historic day for clarity.

The occasion was the totally unnecessary session of testimony by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his main accuser of sexual misbehavior, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. The occasion was needless because Dr. Ford’s story in no way rises to the level of credibility to dislodge the nomination.

No decent society smears people for life based on high school misbehavior, so even if the wholly unsupported story were true, there would have been a strong argument against its relevancy today.

As such, the rhythm became: five minutes of Ms. Mitchell poking through questions of fact and memory, interrupted by five minutes of Democrat grandstanding. Then five more minutes of Ms. Mitchell seeming to inch closer to a salient point, only to be buzzered by the need to recognize the next round of Democrat fawning and prattling.

..snip..

But as soon as Judge Kavanaugh completed his opening statement, it became clear what the afternoon matinee would contain: Republicans showing more spine than they have in years, accompanied by Democrats making total asses of themselves.

Why the understatement? Yesterday’s hearing ensures total Republican dominance through at least 2028.

The next nominee must not be a person who could ever possibly allow accusations from one person based on that person’s sex to cause the accused to be convicted. The next nominee must be a judge who has a long record of decisions on constitutional freedoms and protections and must not be chosen based on one issue alone or issues that are not hotly contested in politics today.

The next nominee must be a person who will think with the head on his shoulders—not hormonal influences, romantic notions, a single, contemporary religious institution or emotional intuitions.

This is the U.S.A., and our Constitution is as exceptional and as relevant today, as it was over 240 years ago. It is not open to designs to revise it to include old foreign errors.

are you joking??

This was not about Kavanaugh or his behavior. This was leftist fascist Alinsky tactics to overturn the nomination.

It never was about the truth. Read the list of 12 Rules and stop being Alinsky-ed.

there is no one who can be perfect, because it is about lying and getting their way.

Do not be a fool.

Saul Alinsky describes 24 rules in Rules for Radicals. Of those 24 rules, 13 are rules of “power tactics”:

1. “Power is not only what you have but what the enemy
thinks you have.”

2. “Never go outside the experience of your people.”

3. “Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the
enemy.”

4. “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.”

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

6. “A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.”

7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”

8. “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and
actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.”

9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing
itself.”

10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of
operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.”

11. “If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will
break through into its counterside.”

12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive
alternative.”

13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

The remaining 11 rules Alinsky describes are concerned with “the ethics of means and ends”:

1. “One’s concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one’s personal interest in the issue … Accompanying this rule is the parallel one that one’s concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one’s distance from the scene of conflict.”

2. “The judgment of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.”

3. “In war the end justifies almost any means.”

4. “Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.”

5. “Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.”

6. “The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.”

7. “Generally success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.”

8. “The morality of a means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.”

9. “Any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition as being unethical.”

10. “You do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral garments.”

11. “Goals must be phrased in general terms like ‘Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,’ ‘Of the Common Welfare,’ ‘Pursuit of Happiness,’ or ‘Bread and Peace.’”

See. Graham may have had a “come to Jesus “ moment when he lost his sidekick from AZ.

I will not rest either. Sure the dems are going to keep trying. See the Bar association is stating an FBI investigation needs to occur now which they know is meaningless.

I appreciate your post above, as armchair coaches beating up on Mitchell was a too common distraction thru all of yesterday's drama.
Several actual attorneys among us chimed in at various times during the day to say that, basically (& paraphrased), she was doing her job brilliantly.

It sounded to me like Mitchell did exactly what she was there for.
Like a well-drilled offensive line, she kept pushing the opposition back and moving the team down the field a handful of yards at a time.
Then, when it was red zone time, BK & LG teamed up to ram it in for the big score and subsequent headlines.
But without the workmanlike slogging of Mitchell's relentless line, the Rs would have been up there hoping to cover the entire hundred yards with a couple Hail Marys.

That is right. They lost because he did not, as Trump does not, play into their tactics.

He was clean and clear and said no.

He was the best of the best for the job.

Even Graham grew a pair! Total Shock on that. Now if all 51 hang tough, and vote YES and Spineless McConnell invokes the Nuke option, we will win.

If Kavanaugh uses the bench for payback, he’s no Justice. I trust he will do no such thing.

Roger that.
He'll undoubtedly always have this farce 'seared' into a corner of his mind, but I see a guy to whom the Constitution and professionalism are paramount.
I would be shocked were he to engage in partisan payback from the bench over this travesty.

“The Dems have been exposed.”

To whom? The only people affected by this will be the moderates from both parties and independents who even bothered to watch this.

Ephesians 6:12 came to mind when the first accusation against BK came out. I prayed everyday that the schemes, the lies, the slander and the defamation would turn back onto their projectors. I prayed that a spirit of confusion would overcome any carefully laid plans or traps put in BK’s way. I have no idea if that made a difference. But by faith, lesser men have done greater things. I have decided to continue this daily prayer that those who plot the destruction of this country will be destroyed by their own plans, slanders and defamations. I pray for Truth, Absolute Truth, to be the bedrock of this nation now as it was in the pass before the seeds of godlessness were imported from Germany over 100 years ago. What we are witnessing today is a polished and refined replica of that old, murderous totalitarian dogma with bows and shiny paper.

Feinstein is responsible and it is reprehensible. She is 85, won’t be here much longer, is from California and an entrenched liberal that will NEVER have her history or resume challenged by the media. Her moment of sanity and courage passed by as she pulled out all of the stops for the Democrat party. She had nothing to lose. Just like Harry Reid exposing Romney’s tax returns in 2012. “It was just something I had to do.”

Trashing and maligning an innocent man, all the while dragging the man’s young innocent daughters through the worst garbage imaginable. Hopefully the overreach will charge the electorate in November.
