In the olden days to make pigs fat, you had a herd of cattle, fed them grain and hay.

Then you ran pigs behind the cattle to eat the manure as it contained lots of undigested grain. Then you ran chickens behind the pigs to again eat any passed undigested grain.

Some farms then scooped up the chicken manure and mixed it with more grain and fed it to the cattle. Waste not want not.

Then we all got Salmonella and human spongiform encephalopathy and died, so we dont do that any more.
