Minnesota Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison has submitted a request for a House Ethics Committee investigation into domestic abuse allegations raised against him by an ex-girlfriend.
"Today I am announcing that I will submit a request for a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations against me raised by a former partner. I am taking this step now because I am innocent and eager to see this entire matter resolved," Ellison wrote in a statement to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
The Democratic-Farmer-Labor party has hired a private lawyer, Susan E. Ellingstad, to conduct their own investigation into the allegation.
When reached for comment on Wednesday afternoon, Ellingstad said she could not comment.
"I have complied fully with that investigation, the results of which should be made public soon," Ellison wrote. "These allegations have lingered in the public sphere, and remain unsubstantiated. I welcome an investigation by the House to allow us to move on."
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has reached out to Ellison's ex-girlfriend Karen Monahan, who raised the allegations, for comment on these new developments but has yet to hear back.
Lots of popcorn.
That’s an interesting approach...
In other words investigate this for a few months so I can win the election first
You have got to get out in front of these things if you expect to win.
[ BREAKING: Ellison Asks House Ethics Committee to Investigate Allegations by Ex-Girlfriend ]
Translation: My fellow Democrats have assured me they will whitewash the matter. Just like they did for Hillary. We wiped it; like with a cloth.
Oh my, I used “whitewash”.
The Ethics Committee where accusations go to die.
Yeah, he's a wife-beating mozlum.
Next!
dummy muzzie.
He’d better hope the local rags don’t get a hold of his divorce records in the meantime....
Unsubstantiated....unsubstantiated....hmmm. What does that word mean? I’ve heard it somewhere before.
Where’s the media on ol’ Bob Menendez and his underage Dominican hookers?
For that, where are Republican Senators calling for an ethics investigation?
Mighty quiet out there.
He betting on the Dems retaking the house and giving him a whitewash
Who guards the guardians?
yep-
But “allegations against me raised by a former partner”
There are at LEAST 2 Women that have come forward!!
Doctors reports!!
911 calls to the Police!!
A VIDEO (that the “girlfriend” does NOT want to release)
ALSO- if anyone cares-
Lying about meeting Iranians -Secretly
Conspiring/- excuse me- linking up with GANG members
to form “united for peace”
Claims to have Not met with Farrakhan- there are recent pictures—
But the Demon rats of minnneeeeesoooota will still vote for him
What..NO FBI Investigation!! That’s outrageous, after all the left wants the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh but Ellison isn’t calling on the FBI to investigate him
That’s a great way to sweep it under the rug.
The Ellison retort is beating them every time they call for an investigation of Kavenaugh I guess they are trying this now so we can’t use it against them.
They’re frankening him. His previously acceptable physical abuse of a woman is making a quiet mockery of his party’s ability to get super-outraged at the imaginary abuse of a woman by a Republican more important than he is.
The “House Ethics Committee” is one of the few bipartisan groups in DC. It’s purpose is to excuse bad behavior (and criminal behavior) by members of both parties. Both parties know they REALLY need excuses often and that the excuses won’t be believed unless they are bipartisan. So they work together to keep each other out of prison.
Once a member calls on the committee, you know he’s screwed (guilty) without a bipartisan finding of “innocence” that can be used to avoid other impartial investigations. Orat least to push other investigations past an election (”the committee is investigating so you have to wait”) and provide an excuse for not commenting during the election (”I can’t comment while the committee is investigating”).
Anyone else remember the so-called “ethics truce” from a few years back?
Cuz I do....
