If the Republicans had played hard ball last week, they could have settled this on easily too. The flip side is if they play hardball without a hearing for the first accuser, the second accuser is touted as proof that the first accuser was truthful but was prevented from telling her story to the committee. Like I have said, it's a no-win situation, and playing hardball is not going to result in a guaranteed win.

Your post is 100% correct. If Grassley had stuck to his guns and held the hearing tomorrow morning, these Sunday night reports would have been disastrous.
The only way to make this stop is debunk the first allegation (I think that's already been done), and then refuse to hear any others that aren't made in sworn statements.
