As I posted on another thread:

If Kavanaugh is not voted, confirmed, and seated on the Supreme Court by Oct 1st (a Monday) then the Supreme court is basically deadlocked for an entire year with only 8 justices.

The Term of the Court begins, by law, on the first Monday in October and lasts until the first Monday in October of the next year.

Not sure. Tucker claimed that if they waited until then, the vote wouldn’t occur until after the election. I didn’t hear him give his reasoning for that. Could be it would mess up one of their 4 day weekends.
