Trump’s fault, I’m sure. That’s what the media will tell us.

Looks like a domestic case with a couple of innocent bystanders including a cop.

Just down the road from a retired coworker who just called and gave us a rundown.

The gunman was shot and killed by a police officer.

This is a rural area about 50-60 miles south of Pittsburgh near the WV border.

Probably more guns per capita than anywhere else in the country and shootings are very rare, confined mainly to certain areas (wink, wink, nudge) of Uniontown.

Fayette Co is locally known as Fayette Nam, inhabited by the Fayette Cong.

I often visit nearby on business in Uniontown, Smithfield and Lamont Furnace — a stones throw to my namesake’s college WVU in Morgantown ...

LOL! Thanks for the local color. I heard the DA say that security was an issue..does that mean there's no metal detectors or guards at the entrance to the courthouse?

My old courthouse had neither metal detectors or guards, unless we had a big trial. On those days, I just walked around the metal detector. If our courthouse had had security, I wouldn't have needed to *accessorize*. But once I did, I always wore accessories to work ;)

I'd vetnure to guess that the magistrate's office is a "gun free" zone to the extent that there are signs that say "No guns allowed".

One report said that it started outside.

Last July I attended a few days of the trial of one of Whitey Bulger's mobster rivals. It took place in the new Boston Federal Courthouse and everyone, including lawyers,is screened by US Marshals.Because I have two metal hips I always set off the alarms so a Marshall had to wand me and frisk me each time.

Marshals also patrol the exterior of the courthouse so it's hard to imagine that kind of thing happening there.

Calling this a courthouse is a stretch and shows the utter ignorance and ineptitude of the media.

This is one of several magistrate courts in the county.

http://www.co.fayette.pa.us/MagisterialDistrictJudges/Pages/default.aspx

This particular one is attached to the municipal building in Masontown. Magistrate judges in Pennsylvania are tasked (among other things) with hearing traffic and summary cases and conducting preliminary hearings.

You don’t have to be a lawyer to be elected as a Magistrate.

The real “courthouse” is in Uniontown and there is security there. Some of the magistrate “courts” are in strip malls or glorified sheds.

“1 Dead, 4 Injured After Shooting at Pennsylvania Courthouse”

Clearly, we need to make it illegal to carry guns into a courthouse!

Yep, that building houses the Masontown Borough offices, the Police Department (on the lower level), treasurer, billing department, and has a magistrate courtroom.

Here is the real Courthouse in Uniontown:

Fayette County has had very serious problems with meth and opioids.
