Pompeo: There's no precedent for what Kerry did
Arutz Sheva ^ | 15/9/18 | Elad Benari

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday blasted former Secretary of State John Kerry’s meetings with Iranian officials since leaving office.

"What Secretary Kerry has done is unseemly and unprecedented," Pompeo told reporters at the State Department, according to CNN.

"This is a former secretary of state engaged with the world's largest state sponsor of terror and according to him, he was talking to them, he was telling them to wait out this administration," Pompeo added.

"You can't find precedent for this in US history and the secretary ought not engage in this kind of behavior," Pompeo continued. "It's beyond inappropriate."

Asked if he thought Kerry's meeting had been illegal, Pompeo said he would leave the "legal determinations to others."

Kerry admitted this week that he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif “three or four times” since leaving office but denied he was trying to coach him through the Trump administration’s rejection of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In an interview earlier this week, Kerry justified his meetings with Iranian officials, claiming, “Every secretary of state, former secretary of state continues to meet with foreign leaders, goes to security conferences, goes around the world. We all do that. And we have conversations with people about the state of affairs in the world in order to understand them. We don't negotiate. We are not involved in interfering with policy. But we certainly have reasonable discussions about nuclear weapons, the world, China, different policies obviously.”

If you're looking for justice that ain't going to happen with our broken system until the swamp is cleared out......expecting this to happen now is just foolish thinking. Exposing and revealing is only part one

Yes we're looking for justice.

Expecting it to happen now would be reasonable, if we had a nonrecused AG.

But we don't.

So Trump is forced to play the long game.

Hopefully Trump will be able to expunge the recalcitrant AG soon.

If you had any idea how long it takes to indict and prosecute a simple ceo corruption case you would understand that a government full of corrupt people isn’t going to happen within a two year time frame by any means, especially since they are still in the uncovering mode....while at the same time keeping government operational.

I have to agree with my Classmate (Pompeo). Ted Kennedy was a Senator--not a former Secretary of State.

I am just a guardhouse lawyer, but shouldn't the Logan Act be looked at here?

Once again, Mr. Kerry has sided with our enemies.

I notice John Kerry has his arm around his wife’s waist and oddly, his fingers are crossed.

No.

There's plenty of low hanging fruit that isn't being prosecuted.

And it's been eighteen months, and key basic witnesses haven't been questioned in the FISA investigation and the Uranium one investigation.

Beyond all of that, the simple facts are that Jeff Sessions is recused and the corrupt Rod Rosenstein is in charge.

If you had any idea the legal jeopardy there would be if the RECUSED Jeff Sessions was doing something "behind the scenes", you would understand that the Jeff Beauregard Sessions is doing nothing.

Doesn't take much critical thought to lay waste to your theory.

Let him run amok in the Carolinas with the British? That’s what Benedict Arnold did when his plot was foiled. Was he ever caught and hung?
