Per above link, am I reading that right, the alleged vic was his daughter?! And the jury did come in with a non-unanimous verdict.
After reading the article in your link, I would say the victim might have been his own daughter, or the daughter of someone else who was the complainant. These days grammar mistakes are common, and rarely corrected, especially in journalism. There were an awful lot of “they”s in the article, especially in the paragraph mentioning a daughter. It was very confusing.
