VATICAN CITY — The Vatican is preparing the "necessary clarifications" about accusations that top Vatican officials including Pope Francis covered up the sexual misconduct of a now-disgraced American cardinal, Francis' top advisers said Monday.

In a statement, Francis' nine cardinal advisers expressed their "full solidarity" with the pope over the scandal, which has thrown his papacy into crisis.

The cardinals, who are meeting at the Vatican this week, said they were aware that "the Holy See is working on formulating the potential and necessary clarifications."

Yup. The usual response.

Spin, spin, spin, spin, obfuscate and spin.

They just need a little more time to get their story right.

My first response to being wrongly accused of being accessory to terrible crimes would certainly be to remain silent at first and then say I plan to respond eventually. I mean that’s just the obvious response, right?

I dunno. If somebody accuses me of something and I KNOW I’m innocent, my immediate response is, “Hell No, I’m Innocent!”

The initial hope was that the media would attack Vigano and the story would simply go away. The first part of that happened but the second really didn’t. The new “defense” has been floated in the recent Tornielli column. They’re saying that B16’s penalties on McC were informal and unenforced. Francis didn’t lift anything because there was nothing to lift. All of McC’s offenses were in the distant past so who can blame Francis for not reopening thw whole thing? And as soon as he heard about the new allegations, he took swift and decisive action. It’s a BS defense buy looks like they’re going to go with it.

“In a statement, Francis’ nine cardinal advisers expressed their “full solidarity” with the pope over the scandal,”

I think I see the problem.

The communist gay mafia will speak about its pro-homo agenda. How Awesome. Their global warning agenda is not a top priority this week.

Delay...Nit Pic details...obfuscate...then, lie.

Drag it out, drain the energy of your opponent.

hmm. That does make sense? I wonder why the Pope didn’t think of it?

Six of whom have been named in sexual abuse investigations themselves.

It’s best for my peace of mind to pay very little attention to what Pope Francis says. He increases my cynicism and that’s not good for me.

Not much different than any bureaucracy...maintain maximum control, do a lot of fear-mongering and claim to be the only path to redemption, and protect the most corrupt among them....it’s what happens when an organization gets really big and rich and becomes accustomed to having a lot of sway over its membership.....it stops preaching Jesus, gets into a number of varying liberal social causes, and ramps up the preaching about itself.
