So you’re saying there’s hope for a Harry Reid Park in the future?

But they are also all “reflectors” not “refractors”. Yerkes was the biggest they could make as a refractor. Any bigger the glass would deform under it’s own weight.

Those adaptive optic scopes are incredible!

I ranch in the area (and live in Ruidosso).

The weird crap that flies over me would make me unsurprised if someone told me we captured an alien craft and had been testing it.

I’ve been knocked flat by a sonic boom when I could see no craft — in a flat, open, prairie. And, mind you, I was an artillery officer; I am used to big booms.

Clocks and fire alarms all fell off the wall the other day in the house.

Thanks for the ping. Yes, this is weird.
I wonder if we will ever know why they did this.

NM ping list.

Sunspot, NM, Near Cloudcroft.

OK, this is just very weird.

I can think of several reasons that they might want to do this... and I don’t like some of them, and think it might be handled better.

There was a UFO sighting in Corona? I’ve been to that town - there’s nothing there! Well, not much anyway.

.
That is correct.

My brother-in-law did all the design calcs for the first AO scope in Hawaii, when he worked at Livermore Lab. Then he moved to Hawaii to develop the operational proceedures.

(now he gave up on the feds, and works foe Raytheon)

I recall they wanted to close Sunspot a few years back because it was outdated. So I assume one of the big boys could see whatever Sunspot may be looking at towards the Sun.

I am assuming the issue is much more local.

This is deeply curious.

Yes; I believe that Hynek thought that the Soccoro case was the most remarkable, probably because of trace evidence...

I hadn’t heard that... but then I don’t pay much attention to such things.

But I was under the impression that the Sunspot Observatory had made some major discoveries in the last few years.??

Quien Sabe.
