I’m actually surprised by this. Everyone was acting like Arizona and Nevada were the GOP’s two sure Senate losses this November, that Sinema was a slam dunk.

Well, Sheriff Joe's deluded presence queered the deal for everyone. It portrayed the party as weak and divided. And Divided it certainly was: Almost 20% of the vote went to Sheriff Joe. Even if Kelli Ward still had lost in a two-person race, the party wouldn't have been weakened.
But in a sense who cares. What "party" is there really? The "party" consists of "not Dem". When we vote for a Republican for Senate, it's like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates …
