Former President Obama criticized President Trump and Republicans for taking credit for the growing economy, arguing the economic recovery began during his presidency.
Obama also mocked Republicans for praising monthly jobs report that he suggested they undersold, at best, when he was president.
"When you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let's just remember when this recovery started," Obama said in remarks at the University of Illinois.
"When the monthly job numbers come out suddenly Republicans are saying its a miracle," he added.
Obama said his presidency saw similar numbers, after the recovery from the Great Recession that began before he arrived in office. "Actually those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015," Obama said.
Trump and Republicans have been pointing to strong economic numbers as a key argument in the midterm elections, which Obama is now pushing back on.

The economy basically stagnated under Obama. Annual GDP growth was never beyond 3% while the narcissist was in office.
Obama....what a POS! He was by far the WORST president in American history and by far the most ant-American president.
A lot of denial. Anyone with a simple, 1st grade understanding of economics has to be honest and admit that the Businessman in the WH has had a LOT to do with this. Not getting much help from the Senate or the Congress, he has had to do a LOT of it all by himself. It must be sad reading GOOD news about the economy, when he used his regulations to squelch and hold things back. Need to go ask the coal miners how they see the turn around came, sure wasn’t during the Obama years.
But the more Obama talks and is in the spot light, the more Republicans and right leaning independents will show up and vote against his party.

I work for the local water utility and it’s been development on steroids for the past year and a half. In talking with developers they said their project green lights came on election night. If Hillary won their projects were to be shelved.
I am afraid Obama is saying this now because he knows of a deep state orchestrated market crash coming.
