Former San Francisco 49er Jason Hairston was found dead in his California home this week.

The former NFL linebacker, who joined Donald Trump Jr. on a hunting trips just weeks ago, was confirmed dead by his hunting gear company, KUIU, on Wednesday.

“We are shocked and saddened to announce the tragic passing of KUIU founder Jason Hairston. His legacy lives on in KUIU’s spirit of relentless innovation,” the company said on Twitter.

The company later revealed on its website that Hairston took his own life.

“He is survived by his wife Kirstyn and 2 children,” KUIU wrote. “The family has requested that donations be made to support CTE-related research at the Boston University Concussion Legacy Foundation in lieu of sending flowers.”

Trump Jr. also took to Instagram to express condolences for his friend shortly after his passing, calling Hairston “an inspiration to all outdoorsmen and women for generations to come.”

“Jason, I have no words. I will always remember our adventures and sharing a campfire with you. They will be some of my fondest experiences in the outdoors,” Trump said in his post. “You were and will continue to be an inspiration to all outdoorsmen and women for generations to come. Thanks for the friendship and the memories buddy. I’m going to miss you. R.I.P.”

According the KUIU website, the former NFL player was raised in Orange County, Calif., before he went on to play for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. He later retired before the age of 24 due to problems with his neck.

He also had a history of speaking about chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease found in athletes, veterans and others with a history of repetitive brain trauma.

Hairston was 47 years old.

Tragic as the suicide is, it’s shameful how the author interjected Trump name. The hill is nothing more than Cory booker. Sleezey

Doesn’t say he committed suicide. Just says he was found dead.

How long before the media and Democrats call for Muller to look into this matter as well? Just saying!

I think that CTE has a lot to do with these guys killing themselves. It’s easy to call them selfish but we don’t know what the brain injuries is doing inside their heads.

I guess one good thing about the kneelers is that making me give up watching football makes me free of the responsibility for those traumatic brain injuries. If enough people stop watching the game will go away and the brain injuries will end.
