The power structure in North Korea has too much to lose if North Korea is transformed. Kim does not have firm control and cannot overcome entrenched opposition.

Kim has PLENTY of control.
HE is the problem.

And he’s jacking us around, as did dad and grandad.

As predicted.

“Kim does not have firm control and cannot overcome entrenched opposition.”

He has 1/2 the total power.

The military has the other half.

That’s the real stalemate.

“...The power structure in North Korea has too much to lose if North Korea is transformed. Kim does not have firm control and cannot overcome entrenched opposition...”

Exactly. It is similar to trying to get Islamic mullahs to become democratic and return some power to the INDIVIDUAL. Will not happen without a complete victory over oppressive and totalitarian rule. Never has, and never will.
