California Lawmakers Pass Net Neutrality Bill
NPR ^ | September 2, 2018 | James Douubek

Lawmakers in California are sending legislation to Gov. Jerry Brown that would put net neutrality regulations into state law.

California's Senate approved the measure, called SB 822, by 27-12 Friday, a day after colleagues in the Assembly approved it 61-18.

The Democratic governor, Jerry Brown, hasn't said if he will sign it. He has until the end of September.

"We passed the strongest net neutrality standards in the nation," San Francisco Democrat Scott Wiener, who co-wrote the bill, said in a statement.

"This is about a level playing field and an Internet where we as individuals get to decide where we go on the Internet instead of being told by Internet service providers, or manipulated by Internet service providers, into going where they want us to go," Wiener told reporters.

I post this to get some discussion going. I set the word neutrality thrown around these days and ask is it really neutral.

I would love to get FReeper input on this. Thanks.

San Francisco Democrat Scott Wiener, who co-wrote the bill,

This is really all you need to know about the bill ... and it's bad enough the Leftist from San Francisco is identified as a Wiener.

The Marxists who inhabit the CA governorship and Assembly via massive voter fraud dishonor the nation and all the citizens of CA. Believe it or not, a huge number of people who live in California loathe these enemies of the USA.

Voter Fraud has got to become a major issue immediately.

states have no authority over interstate commerce, which the internet clearly is ... they’ll be sued in federal court by the trump administration, and eventually this will be slapped down by SCOTUS ...

Government censorship is around the corner. Just like China.

Facebook already implemented Chinese-stye censorship for the public and personal rating for its employees just like in China. No governments need apply.

Yup. People should be educated. Learn the truth. However, which is worse: government control of business or oligarchs controlling information.

Education is the key because one thing leftist hate is being accused of censorship. They are hypocrites.
