Meghan McCain tore into an absent President Trump at a memorial service for her father, Arizona Sen. John McCain, in Washington on Saturday.
“We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness,” McCain, a co-host of “The View,” said at the National Cathedral. “The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege.”
“He was a great fire who burned bright,” she said in a speech punctuated by sobbing. “A few have resented that fire… but my father never cared what they thought.
“The America of John McCain does not need to be made great again, because America was always great.”

You would think that Trump had something to do with the death of McCain. I do think that this whole funeral is an admission that Trump did mortal damage to McCain’s legacy. This is a feeble attempt at damage control. McCain lost, Trump won.

Does anyone here disagree with me that had Trump or Ivanka said something about a liberal at any funeral, they would be scorched for “exploiting the event of solemn sadness for their political purposes to settle old grudges. How crass.”-—on every TV news half hour update for four days.
Taking cheap shots at Trump is supposedly noble and uplifting and fun due to their political bias. Liberals at home say “Yay, get him. That’s a good shot at Trump.”
Just once when local liberals get their little giggles in I’m going to bust somebody’s face. One example: a booth in a coney island and the four were giggling about the time Melania slapped away Trump’s hand as they walked instead of holding his hand. Giggling went on for five minutes.
