I think it was Mark Levin who pointed out that you cannot be impeached for actions you took, legal or otherwise, before you became President.
That gets you to Perjury, Obstruction of Justice and variation on Unsuitable for Office. Even if Colusion with the Russians was unlawful (it isn’t) and Trump actually did it (he didn’t) that all happened when he was running for office not tending to it.
Process crimes. If there was no investigation the crimes would never occurred.

I don’t think they care so much about actually removing him from office because even dimwitted dems are smart enough to realize how succession works. But they see impeachment as “Resist on Steroids”, a bigger way to slow and/or stop President Trump from undoing Obama and implementing the MAGA agenda.

Even if Democrats held the House they would not have an impeachment vote on the floor.
They learned well the debacle of the Clinton impeachment and will not impeach into CERTAIN Senate defeat. And then lose the House.
Trump is no more impeachable than Obama was.
If the Democrats win the House back, they can impeach Trump.
But a GOP Senate will never convict him.
