In New Mexico, where life off the grid is common, compound suspects struggled

Taos County, New Mexico (CNN)The compound was hiding in plain sight, a white smudge in the dusty green expanse of sagebrush and juniper stretching across the Colorado-New Mexico border.

A few feet past a handwritten "no trespassing" sign on the ground, a box truck sat unlocked. Inside, a wooden bunk bed was propped up against the wall, surrounded by piles of dirty clothing and worn-out books. Identity documents were mixed on the floor with children's math workbooks, self-help guides and gun manuals. A dusty bulletproof vest lay nearby.

It had been two weeks since law enforcement raided lot 78 in Costilla Meadows, a rural subdivision in Amalia, New Mexico, where homes are off the grid and you can see your nearest neighbor miles over the dry grassland. Police found 11 malnourished children there, shoeless and in tattered clothes, and arrested five adults. Days later, they found the remains of the 3-year-old boy they were searching for.

The CNN hand-wringing 'bottom line':

...Many are quick to distance the state's countercultural vibe from the compound and its inhabitants, who are accused of training the children to commit mass shootings.

But they also fear that the publicity around a case infused with allegations of terrorism, child abuse and faith healing might contribute to a rise in racism and Islamophobia.

Ike would’ve cleaned the place out and deported all of them.

IOW they want to associate Islamic terrorists with a subculture of right wing survivalists.

If you live off the grid I’m sure most people will do as you wish and leave you alone for thrown safety. You’ll know soon enough what they’re up to. When it’s too late.

“In New Mexico, where life off the grid is common, compound suspects struggled” Proof they are low IQers.

“We used to keep our doors unlocked. We used to know our neighbors,” she says. “Not anymore.” That’s been the case across the country since obamy took office.

I want to know why the Sheriff bulldozed the place so quickly. It was on private property and they did it without the permission of the owner.

Some live well away from the power grid with electricity (solar), clean water, communications equipment, heating, emergency gear, etc. Some don’t.

Yup, the bulldozing of the compound makes no sense with as much evidence that had yet to be analyzed. Very troubling.

Are we reading the same article? Per the property owners:

Then, they tried unsuccessfully to evict them. When they learned that Wahhaj was wanted for kidnapping, they contacted the Taos County Sheriff's Office and gave them permission to search the property

Just imagine if these kids were to carry out mass shootings. The left would be ecstatic to blame the guns while running interference for Islamic protected class. The left is absolutely insane.

Giving them permission to search the property is a whole lot different than bulldozing the place after they “searched” the property.

That’s liberals...always worried about the legendary cryptid, the great evil American violent vengeful bigot.

Never a damn care about Americans being slaughtered by Moslems.

True. If my place looked like that, I'd tell them to bulldoze it all. Looks like the authorities left some junk and told the owners to get rid of what's left. Nasty looking lot.

I don’t know where you live, but where I live BULLDOZE is most definitely NOT the same as PERMISSION TO SEARCH.
