Saudi-led coalition airstrikes killed 30 people, including 22 children, in a rebel-held area in northwestern Yemen on Thursday, according to the Houthi-controlled Health Ministry.
Four families were evacuating their homes in a vehicle when the airstrikes hit, according to Houthi-owned media. Earlier coalition airstrikes on Wednesday killed four people and injured two, according to two surviving family members who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons.
"Four people were killed in the strike before, that's why they fled. They wanted to save their lives, their children's lives. Is nowhere safe for us?" one survivor said.
Both sources did not want to be named out of fear for their safety.
Thursday's airstrikes hit al-Duraihmi district, some 20 kilometers from the Red Sea city of Hodeidah, the latest flashpoint in Yemen's ongoing war. The International Rescue Committee said airstrikes in al-Duraihmi city on Wednesday killed 13 people.
"Anything that moves dies," one resident of al-Duraihmi who didn't want to be named for security reasons told CNN. The area's proximity to the strategic city of Hodeidah has turned it into a major battleground, sustaining repeated airstrikes in recent days.
Houthi-held Hodeidah city, considered a humanitarian lifeline to millions of Yemenis, is a main rebel gateway to the Red Sea. Coalition-backed forces have sought to wrest control of it since June.

Napalm sticks to kids.
How many German and Japanese children did the allies kill in WWII?
Hundreds of thousands, if not millions.
War is hell.
What it a wedding or something?
Where’s the worldwide condemnation for killing civilian targets?
As if any claim in this situation can be believed.
Where’s Nikki Haley condemning this?
Selective outrage.
The US soils itself by continuing to have close relations with the 9/11, corrupt, decadent Saudis. Saudi pilots, despite their extensive training in the US, drop their ordinance from very high altitudes so as to avoid ground fire and personal risk. The Saudi military despite all the fancy equipment is a joke. The ordinary soldier will not risk his life on behalf of the corrupt princes who control the wealth and the government.
The children were enemies, shields to be penetrated to kill the bad guys
It’s CNN, why read past that?
Looks like CNN supports the rebels. CNN was quick to point out the bomb that was dropped by the Saudis was built by Northrop-Grumman, complete with a picture of bomb parts. Will our local Leftists be doing a 50 Mile March to the gates of the bomb-maker’s plant?
Will we now hear: “Oh, those beautiful babies...”?
Or is it that Yemeni children don’t count?
What is your standard for ‘believing’ news reports?
In a war between the Saudis and Iran, the Saudis are saints by comparison.
What a sad day. One of those chillruns could have found the cure for AIDS. We need to bring the families to America...and set the father up as a taxi driver in NYC. /sarc
A pox on both. Kindly explain the benefits of current US policy to the American people by our extensive entanglement in the region. We have had 9/11, over six thousand brave soldiers killed, thousands more physically and psychologically maimed and trillions of treasure squandered. Needless bitter enemies have been created. These countries, formed in a collapsing violent culture that is not compatible with the practices, institutions or insights of modernity, may have oil wealth. But they will sell it to anyone with the hard currency they need to sustain them. If we disengaged totally from the region , they would come to us begging us to buy their oil and share our advancements with them.
Right. Propaganda at it’s finest.
Muzzies killing Muzzies.
Works for me.
