I think your reply is the most rational one so far. Children of any ethnicity lie. It’s something innate in our DNA. They have to be taught that lies are not appropriate behavior.
I once had a woman I worked with that told me infants were perfectly honest little individuals incapable of lies. She also saw her young son as the most brilliant, outstanding child who had ever lived. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that her kid was about average and what she was feeling was pretty normal for young mothers.
