Hmmm.. Joe’s Rent-A-Spine must be having one of their sales.
>>Like in Lord of the Rings, nine walkers (the fellowship of the Ring) against nine riders (the Black Riders).<<
Too often American Citizens are that poor watchman behind the door.

“Grassley: Kavanaugh Hearings to Begin September 4”
“The Senate will continue to work right through August...”
All of one week that’s left.
“Just recess the Senate so Trump can move ALL his picks in.”
These would be limited commissions. Confirmations are for life.
Mitch has given us some grief; but, if he can pull this off, I hope none of us will nurse grudges.
Schumer must get up every morning cursing Harry Reid over this “unwinnable” position ol’ Harry has put him in.
#WINNING
Exactly. Recess appointments would expire with the expiration of the current congressional term in January.
That’s a good point. That may very well have hacked him off enough to decide he’s had enough; and to just ram through everything. The lame duck session will see the House and Senate making the tax cuts permanent. Mitch will shepherd that one through also.
McTurtle is feeling the heat from voters in the Bluegrass State.
My wife is a Kentuckian and a Trump supporter. They’ll shove him straight.
Dont F with Cocaine Mitch when it comes to judicial appointments.
Right, or his wife will kick your ass.
Article II, section 2: "3: The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session."
The end of their next Session would be either at the end of 2020, or when they move to recess again. And if they recess again, then Trump can just re-appoint them as new recess appointments.
Imagine if this guy acted like this all the time?
Let’s remember by fellow freepers what McConnell is doing in support of the president. There have been times that the senate majority leader has been criticized by us. However, he seems more willing to go the extra mile than speaker Ryan.
Interesting to see, thanks.
Politics is the art of the possible
Ryan crafted and passed the tax bill
Recess appointments would only be for backlogged executive branch appointments (like major overhaul in DOJ). You still want lifetime appointment via Senate confirmation for judges.
Way to go, Senator McConnell!
