I live in NYC and see these stereotypical NY Times readers on the subway all the time. Tall, Slim, gray haired, sorta artsy, sorta prim ladies. They know absolutely nothing about the conservative half of America. Meanwhile, I, the enemy, sit right across from them and know them like the back of my hand.
I am surprised they didn’t describe it this way.
“Trump had a defeated mood about him. I could sense the inevitable dread of impeachment eating at him” said one witness. “I heard him mumble “it’s all over now” said another reliable witness.
I suspect it was a mere formality that had to be included among the charges once the case reached a point where formal charges would be filed -- regardless of whether the case went to trial or was worked out in a plea deal. If you remember, this all goes back to the raids on Cohen's home and office and the seizure of all that information related to his dealings with Trump. A violation of attorney-client privilege is only justified in this case if the lawyer is targeted as a "co-conspirator" in a crime, so the prosecutor had to include a charge against Cohen loosely tied to Trump in order to justify the raids at all.
It may end up falling on Trump to fight Cohen's battle (as Cohen's client) on those two charges, but it seems like Cohen might have done him a favor by giving Trump -- as a private citizen who was not the President of the United States at the time -- a legal avenue to go on the offensive against Mueller over the original raid.
They are pissing trump and the base off at just the right time. Massive campaign rallies for the midterms.

So now the word is that Mueller is getting ready to indict DJT Junior because Mueller has testimony from someone else (who is lying, of course) that contradicts Junior’s testimony about his Trump Tower meeting, and can now indict Junior for “lying to the Special Counsel”.
If Mueller indicts Junior, maybe, just maybe that will be one bridge too far for POTUS, and he will finally, FINALLY, fire and arrest them all. Gitmo is calling!!
I know POTUS is likely waiting until after the midterms to make his moves, but if Mueller’s October surprise is a Junior indictment, we may see action sooner rather than later.
It’s a bummer about Manafort. He volunteerd to run Trump’s campaign- AT NO CHARGE! Now with the 2nd trial coming up he probably will spend the rest of his life in jail when convicted.
