A juror who sat on former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's case said on Fox News Wednesday night that only one juror prevented a ruling on all 18 counts against Manafort.
Paula Duncan, who said she is a Trump supporter and that she had hoped Manafort would not be found guilty, said one juror could not come to a guilty verdict on 10 charges, ultimately leading T.S. Ellis III to declare a mistrial on 10 of Manafort's 18 counts.
Duncan said the deliberations were heated, evening bringing some jurors to tears.
A jury convicted Manafort on Tuesday of eight counts of tax and bank fraud.
President Trump pointed to the mistrial as evidence he was being improperly targeted by special counsel Robert Mueller.
A large number of counts, ten, could not even be decided in the Paul Manafort case. Witch Hunt! he tweeted Wednesday morning.
I sure hope Manafort’s attorneys don’t do murder trials.
That would eat me up knowing the guy who got me nomination volunteered to do it - and for free to boot - will rot in jail for the rest of his life for his trouble.
“Paula voted guilty on all 18”
Yeah. After admitting that she thought it should have been an audit, not charges.
And she calls herself a “Republican” and a “Trump supporter”?
She just helped sentence generations of women to rape and murder at the hands of illegal aliens that the Rat party filth will let in to the country once the Rock known as Don Trump is jackhammered out by this corrupt coup.
She’s a damn traitor and an enemy.
Good but not good enough. Still went for 8 witch hunts.
That is exactly how I see it. I would actually enjoy that.
...”She was just on Fox-Shannon Breams show.”...
Sorry I missed that. I was once on a jury where another lady and I were able to convince the others to convict the perp. Most did not want to send him to prison because he was young. After our decision we learned that he had a mile long rap sheet that we were not allowed to know of during his trial. Our fellow jurors were astonished and asked how we knew he was guilty. We just told them we made our decision on fact and not emotion. Jurors are selected by lawyers, hoping for a specific outcome. Paul Manafort is the recipient of that system.
Photo likely taken AFTER she was seated.
Insurance from mooks like us?
Dude, Manafort was guilty... if you think he wasnt you are a political hack.
He may not have been guilty of everything he was charged with, but the guy is dirty and guilty.
Guys, please. Manafort is dirty... if you think hes innocent you are simply deluded.
Was h guilty of everything he was charged with? Probably not, but if you think hes a victim of false prosecution you are nuts.
The fact he is dirty was part of the reason Trump fired him in the first place.
“Manafort is dirty”
Well, duh. Just because he is doesn’t mean Trump is.
I’ve been on enough juries to know that most of the people on juries are absolutely stupid. Juries here always have a bunch of teachers on them and they are the worst. They can’t form a logical opinion.
I get a doctor’s excuse now. So glad my jury days are over.
I think you’re right. I have been excused from serving any number of times based on defense challenges. They managed to work in a question about my education and/or occupation (engineer). One time as the bailiff was escorting me out he whispered “They don’t want smart people on the jury.”
I never said Trump was... I said Manafort is... and was responding to people claiming he should have gotten off without any convictions..... they are blind partisans...
We need a Constitutional Amendment stating that no Federal trial may be held within a 150 mile radius of the District of Columbia nor may any jurors be imported from within that geography.
#metoo!
My original career was as an engineer and I had relatives in law enforcement but still got seated on a murder trial jury. I think the public defender let me stay on as she knew how guilty the perp was.
Here the juror was convinced he was guilty but also recognized it was overkill as a political witch hunt trying to tie him to Russia and Trump.... Too bad she and others didnt stand up for their rights as jurors to practice jury nullification. Could have sent a message by convicting him of the least charge and let him off all the others. The lawyers cant openly argue for jury nullification but jurors somehow need to be educated about it.
