Forget Russia, China’s ‘influence operations’ against U.S. are far more effective

With much of the country’s attention focused on Russian “influence operations” ahead of the 2018 elections, one long-time China watcher says that Beijing has historically posed a much bigger threat to the U.S. than Moscow and continues to do so, though that is changing thanks to the policies of the Trump administration.

“It’s a huge problem. China’s information and influence operations have been extremely effective,” Bill Gertz, senior editor at the Washington Free Beacon and author of several books detailing the Chinese threat to the U.S., told Fox News Tuesday. “They are literally buying up former officials. They are utilizing coercive measures to get U.S. businessmen who have interests in China to do their bidding and very little is being done about it.”

The Chinese were probably behind the hacking of the OPM database of all personnel who hold or have held security clearances. Maybe Russia has gotten access to that information, I do not know. But with the information I have, I consider China a much greater threat.

Given the relative threat levels, I am considering visiting Russia some day. But not China.

In terms of *conservative* activist and intellectual circles though in the U.S. and Europe, Russia's grip is stronger.

Lauren Southern, for example, thinks it's cool to give a shout-out to Stalin, and is promoting the likes of Aleksandr Dugin.

This is thanks to the absolute historical illiteracy on the part of so-called conservatives of the millennial fold. Users on Free Republic people promote Putin! But sadly, even the current leaders of places like the Czech Republic are not doing more to commemorate things like the 50 year anniversary of the Soviet squashing of the Prague Spring -- out of respect for their ties to Putin's Russia -- which fails at every level to recognize the full scope of its RECENT Soviet past. ("past" should be in quotes.)

My opinion of that incident is that the Obama Admin. gave it to the ChiComms.

Typos. So to clarify.

Regarding: the whitewashing or outright glorification of Stalin and the likes of Aleksandr Dugin among conservative activists in alternative media:

This is thanks to the absolute historical illiteracy on the part of so-called conservatives of the millennial fold. Some users on Free Republic even promote Putin. And sadly also, the current “conservative” leaders of places like the Czech Republic are not doing more to commemorate things like the 50 year anniversary of the Soviet squashing of the Prague Spring this week.

This is out of respect for their ties to Putin’s Russia, which fails at every level to recognize the full scope of its recent Soviet past. If you can call it past. The Kremlin certainly doesn’t behave like it’s in the past. And that’s why it’s important to acknowledge the threat they pose as well as China.

Which is exactly why the "Russia! Russia! Russia!" scam instead of focusing on any real intelligence failure.

No way the democrats want to lose all the money the Chinese are sending their way. That's obvious from the fact that there's less made of Chinese purchases in Hollywood and elsewhere than there was when the Japanese were buying everything they could in Hollywood and California.

It would not surprise me to find out that some of the many globalist Freepers receive money either directly from the Chinese or through K Street.
