This is the man that should be the FBI director. If it’s honor can be recovered this is the guy that can do it. If his weakness is inexperience of running a large organization, find him a deputy with that experience. The director’s job should be strategic, setting high standards of conduct is definitely a strategic goal.
Please explain why Brennan should lead the FBI. I think you have a minority opinion here — a minority of one.

Sheriff Clark is a good man and I would never doubt his patriotism or his desire to do what is right. He wrote an interesting article.
I come from that neck of the woods and he has had his share of issues along the way. The confirmation process would be bloody and bring up a lot of old wounds which I think he would rather not tackle. I am happy to see he is writing regularly now and he has a lot of experience to share.
