Having a security clearance does not give you access to anything without a need to know. A former military or civil servant who is no longer employed by govt or a contractor has no access to classified information. They do have the opportunity to go back to govt service or a govt contractor and be granted access to classified information required by their job. Nothing more. My son has higher than TS and has been on active army duty and worked as a contractor using his clearance with non requirement to redo the clearance. Every five years he does get renewed if he is in a job that require it. The five year review includes a lie detector. People should retain their clearance but have no access when it isn’t required. There already is a terrible backlog for clearances. These current creeps should loose them for cause. Don’t hurt the good patriots like my son.
