Election day for the mid-term primary is a week away. There are four contested state-wide offices: US Senate, Governor, Attorney General, and Commissioner of Agriculture. There is a lot of negative advertising out there and while some of the players are well known, others are not.
So this is my attempt at bringing together any discussion on choosing the candidates to go up against their RAT opponents in the November General Election.
Scott is a no-brainer for Senate.
DeSantis has this according to the polls and Putnam is the only one who could make it a race. DeSantis is endorsed by Trump. Bob White is the most conservative but his campaign barely has a pulse.
Now it gets murky. From the ads and commentary on FB, etc., Moody worked for a firm that contributed to RATS while White has no trial experience. Not enough info for a decision. Contributions by companies are sometimes made for survival and the AG is not expected to be in the trial rotation.
For CoA, Caldwell was a #nevertrumper but seems to back off from that position on FaceBook, saying the SCOTUS picks made him change his mind. Not sure of the others although Troutman should be a lock for Commissioner of Aquaculture.
Florida ping request, please.
Dems are targeting district 12. Yankee Chris Hunter getting lots of Money from Mass via ActBlue.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz is up for re-election. Let’s get her primaried out!
“Wasserman Schultz didn’t get a primary challenger after Canova decided to run as an independent,” according to the Miami Herald. The only way to retire her is in the November General. I do not know if the Republicans have put up a candidate.
I’m voting Frank White and Matt Caldwell; both the conservative choice or should I rethink it? The ads are all confusing as hell.
Also, if anyone here is in my district/area and knows who to pick out of Lorraine Elizabeth DeYoung, Dean Mosley or Laura Shaffer for Circuit judge, 9th judicial, group 41, that would be helpful.
Also need school board district 6 guidance.
so no to Matt Caldwell for Ag commish?
Anyone going as far as to sign up / come out as a NeverTrumper smacks of career pol to me. But I don’t know about the others.
I voted last week:
DeSantis
Scott
White
Caldwell
AG was a toss-up. Neither of them is well known and Moody has strong law enforcement support, but something about her doesn’t sit right with me. I wish we had better candidates for AG.
Where is Putnam getting money for endless election ads for his race against DeSantis?
Great question. I wish I knew the answer.
White is a politician, while Moody actually has been a court room her whole career. I struggled with this one as well. Leaning Moody.
Google Matt Caldwell, I love is site. GUNS GUNS GUNS!
i didn’t like that Moody sued Trump; she seems slimey. the law enforcement is endorsing putnam too, so I’m not putting much value on that.
Although I already voted for White, the lawsuit was not that big a deal.b apparently her parents were going to buy a condo from a Trump company and when they changed their minds they had to sue to get their deposit back. It was not a political thing.
I’ve kinda watched the Putnam/DeSantis race from afar.
IIRC, Putnam had a fairly conservative voting record while he was in Congress. I, however, can’t speak for his policy directives while he was Ag Commissioner.
Yeah, I know Trump has endorsed DeSantis but if Putnam won tonight, would it be that bad either electorally or ideologically?
From what I could find, that suit against Trump was about a failed real estate project in Tampa, sunk by the 2008 housing crash. She was representing a client attempting to get back a condo deposit. So it would seem that the suit is being blown out of proportion for political purposes.
