The good news: free tution for doctors. The bad news, health care costs.

Women who are persuaded to get mammograms once a year are often referred to take precautionary biopsies--a needlestick--for upwards of $5000.00 at hospitals.

Great headline. It would be somewhat odd if NYU Medical School were planning free tuition for those studying to be accountants.

All major Colleges could give free tuition to students from their endowments. I wonder how much big pharma is “gifting” the University in more substantial ways to indoctrinate so many doctors into being pill pushers? For those that do not know, pharmaceutical companies have a large hand in funding medical schools.

Agreed.
NYU’s proposal is privately funded. they can do whatever they like with those funds. ( Thank You, Ken Langone)
However, the Snowflakes may reject Ken’s money because he doesn’t hate Trump.

How long will it be before non-medical students demand equal treatment?

Will a Hollywood liberal offer to pay for students in Midget and Animal Gender Studies programs?

Curious minds want to know...

From what I’ve seen, this is privately funded. I know one guy gave them $100 million. I’m OK with that.

You realize that tests are not “required”. If you don’t want the test, don’t take it.

NYU will get MANY applicants because of this move.

They will be able to pick through the best of the bunch and raise their standards of admission.

Furthermore, it you're just not interested in whether the abnormal spot on the mammogram is a cancer or not, just don't take the "needle stick". After all, you'll find out on your own eventually, won't you?

They take money from students who study medicine or engineering or something useful and use it to fund the Black and Gender Studies Programs.

Hopefully the level of teaching will rise to meet them.

Yes, when you develop an ache that just won't go away, and your doctor sends you for an x-ray and they find your entire skeleton riddled with mets.

NYU is expecting the Doctors to donate the $$ back, once they start making big bucks in their field. Last weeks WSJ had the top surgeons making $500,000 - $600,000+ a year.

True enough, the approaches differ. But it looks like exorbitant costs are needed to pay for something.

If you don’t want the test, don’t take it. That kind of reasoning works in some ways, but doesn't justify jacked-up prices. It's the same with drugs and insurance. It's very high, even though many afford it. So while anyone can refuse both drugs and insurance, that's not a plausible health program nationwide.

I don't know how NYU pays for what they give away free. I do know enough about economics that when things become necessary, prices are exploitative. I don't think it's a free market, do you?

Try opening more slots for medical school admissions. With women who do not work longer and harder in tougher fields (not all for sure) there is a gaping need for at least 50% if not 100% more American medical school slots to go to American students.
