I was in awe to learn about the Greek word used for "never" in John 10:28 when Jesus said He gives us eternal life and we shall never perish or be snatched from His hands.

and I give them life eternal, and never not shall they perish for the age, and never will seize anyone them out of the hand of me.

I've bolded the emphatic negation in John 10:28.

In Greek, οὐ μὴ is the strongest way to negate something. It is as emphatic of a negation as possible.

When I teach this verse I explain it something along the lines of "ain't no way this is going to happen".....bad grammar but sound theology!

My instructor in college explained it as a “triple negative”. He said the word meant “no, not, never, at any time, at any place, any purpose, whether male, female or even neuter, perpetually, eternally” perish. WHEW!
