The past four years have been the four warmest ever recorded - and now, according to a new scientific forecast, the next five will also probably be “anomalously warm,” even beyond what the steady increase in global warming would produce on its own.
That could include another record warmest year, even warmer than the current record year of 2016.
“What we found is that for the next five years or so, there is a high likelihood of an anomalously warm climate compared to anomalously cold,” said Florian Sevellec, a scientist at France’s National Center for Scientific Research.
The study mines data from 10 existing climate change models, or simulations, to determine which do the best job of capturing how natural factors are contributing to the planet’s temperature. Then it projects forward using the same simulations to see how these factors will play out over the next five years.
It’s important to underscore that the result is a forecast based on probability - not a certain outcome. The study finds a 58 percent chance that Earth’s overall temperature from 2018 through 2022 will be anomalously warm based on these factors.
The study “offers a new and promising low-cost approach to forecasting near-term variations in global average surface temperature,” said John Fyfe, a climate scientist at the Canadian Center for Climate Modelling and Analysis.

Normally, you would say they have a 50% chance of being right.
But as they are climate scientists, you can be sure the next 5 years will be as cold as hell.
Did these frauds ever replot their graphs after the hickey stick prediction flopped?

Must bookmark this and put it on the calendar to check back. Of course they will just cherry pick numbers, use heat island numbers or completely deny this if it doesn’t happen.
Here in South Georgia we are having a relatively cool summer for this area.
I love the irony of the past shut outs...
For instance in March of 2009 when Global Warming Protestors had to succumb to the coldest days of the winter in Washington DC and the government was shutdown, hahahahah.
And in 2004 when Al Gore was going to whine in NY: The snowy scene, with temperatures in the mid-20s, was reminiscent of a day in January 2004, when Al Gore made a major address on global warming in New York — on one of the coldest days in the city’s history.
The beautiful thing about all of this, is these are the same morons that cannot predict the weather 48 hours in advance (unless they live in Arizona) and yet they want to predict what is going to happen in the next five years, yeah, whatever.....
Forgive me, but didn’t I read recently about how the Atlantic Ocean’s temperature being on a downward trend in the last few years and this hurricane season is supposed to be very quiet?
If the hottest year was 2016, then aren’t we in a cooling trend?
They give themselves a 58% chance of being right but act like they are 110%. I say it’s going to be average or even cooler over the next five years. My prediction comes with a 75% chance of being correct.
