Isn’t Connecticut one of the few states bucking the trend this year, i.e. going red?

I sure hope so, but I wouldn't bet on it. Registered Republicans are far outnumbered by registered 'RATs here. Also, 'RATs are pi**ed off at all things Republican because of Trump, so I have to assume their voters are mobilized.

And probably worst of all: Thousands of Republicans and conservatives have permanently left the state over the past 8 or so years. Overall it's not the 'RATs who are leaving, but those on 'our side'.

Do not count out those who belong to no party. They may not be very happy with the last 8 years.
