Your brutalist quote brings back a memory. Decades ago I saw the front page of a gag version of the New York Times dated 1949. From the contents of the front page it was obvious that certain events in world history had not occurred.

The headline was "Lusitania Docks in New York for Royal Visit of King Edward VIII." There was an article titled, "Palestine: the Switzerland of the Middle East." Another was titled, "Fifth Straight Year of Deflation."

But my favorite was, "German Artist Adolf Hitler Dies at Age 60." The article noted that Hitler was the father of the German school of Brutalism and was best known for his illustrations of scenes from Wagner's operas.

Funny what memories a word can bring back.
