The fact that FBI OPR only recommended a 60 day suspension and
demotion for Stzrok should tell all of us that the Swamp is alive and
well within the FBI.
Sessions and Wray have done nothing to clean it up.
Don’t be too hard on them. The recommendation was for a 60 day suspension. Sessions and Wray fired him. Sounds like they did do a little swamp cleaning.
IMO there are actions coming down the road for Strzok that have to do with the Russia investigation that will result in a criminal referral for him. Remember that the IG is now working on the Russia investigation and FISA abuse. The IG had already noted in the email investigation report when discussing the delay in acting on the Weiner laptop that he could not rule out bias.
Bowdich overruled Will because he knows what is coming down the pike. He couldnt leave Strzok in the FBI and further embarrass the FBI and DOJ when the next IG investigatory installment comes out. Why delay the inevitable? Strzok is damaged goods. I hope he is not used as the scapegoat to protect his superiors like McCabe, Comey, Yates, Lynch, and Obama.
A more optimistic view is that the Deputy Director actually overroad the head of the OPR — presumably with the support of Sessions and Wray. Ms OPR is definitely part of the problem and must go soon.
