Trump heightens attacks on Sessions: He's 'scared stiff and missing in action'
The Hill ^ | 08/11/18 | Tal Axelrod

Posted on 08/11/2018 1:17:29 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

President Trump ratcheted up his attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Saturday, tweeting that Sessions was "scared stiff" and "Missing in Action" in defending him amid special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Trump slammed Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence officer at the center of the Trump dossier scandal, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) and once again slammed Mueller's investigation as a "witch hunt."

"The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steele’s many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly. It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC," Trump tweeted.

"Do you believe Nelly worked for Fusion and her husband STILL WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF 'JUSTICE.' I have never seen anything so Rigged in my life. Our A.G. is scared stiff and Missing in Action. It is all starting to be revealed - not pretty. IG Report soon? Witch Hunt!" he wrote.

Trump’s attack on Saturday was likely prompted by murmurings that the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is readying subpoenas for people connected to the controversial Steele dossier.

Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) is reportedly preparing subpoenas for DOJ official Bruce Ohr, his wife, Nellie Ohr, and Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, sources told The Hill this week.

Bruce Ohr is facing scrutiny from Republicans for his contacts with Simpson and Steele during the presidential campaign, the news of which prompted Trump allies to demand a special counsel investigation into the DOJ and FBI in December.

Simpson hired Steele to help produce the dossier that made a series of salacious allegations about Trump's connections with Russia.

Nellie Ohr worked for Fusion GPS during the presidential campaign — a fact that Republicans have promoted as a possible link between the DOJ and the opposition research firm.

Trump has gone after Sessions for the Russia probe before, saying earlier this month that the attorney general should stop the investigation "right now."

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further," Trump tweeted on Aug. 1.

Trump is also known to harbor hostility toward Sessions for recusing himself in the investigation.

“The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn’t tell me he was going to recuse himself...I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined...and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!” the president tweeted in June.

who do you think is running the party now. not a question.

Why do you think we don't have full funding for the wall?

this is tricky, so I can see how you'd get it wrong.

President Donald Trump, approval rating 80%+ approval among republicans, is "running the party now."

left-over losers like widows-peak ryan are the cockroaches ruining the party now.

hope this helps.

I don’t care about any postings online that are weird suggesting its all a game.

President Donald J. Trump is getting the short end of the stick and Sessions seems perfectly content to let it happen.

You make my points. Trump is getting more popular. But some RINO's are still blocking some of the Trump agenda.

As I said, I'm sure there are more than a few RINO Senators that would jump on the remove bandwagon. Not enough votes to remove. But their goal would be to sidetrack the Trump agenda.

And as I said, that's why I think that Trump is playing a long game. Trump's letting the facts come out and Trump is concentrating on his many successes...for now. As Trump says, at some point he'll get involved with his DOJ. And that includes firing Sessions.

Reality check....who the heck would the US Senate ever confirm to replace him? We’d end up with some swamp-thing hack being acting AG.

And how would that be any different from the craven little coward we have now?

not to be combative but inquisitive: what exactly do you want sessions to do that POTUS can't do himself?

“Can you imagine judges who are part of the coup interpreting this?”

They don’t get to say or do anything if he fires Sessions. No one does. Not judges, not Congress, no one. Myers v United States. Look it up.

Session was in the Senate a long time. During his tenure how many ‘pay to play’ actions was he involved in?Probably nothing as lurid as bath house photos just the usual unrecorded payoffs that make anyone who has been far up in politics as long as he a wealthy man. (Sessions came from a very middle class background from a small city in rural Alabama. Today he is worth several million dollars. Just like that paragon of Senatorial virtue Sen. Mitchell (D) from Maine. Came to DC without the proverbial pot or window and has retired to a mansion on the Maine coast .}

Trump plays a long game, we've seen that from the beginning. Remember the "hair on fire" FR response to him saying he'd consider whatever amnesty bs congress sent to him? Lots of FReepers don't understand him AT ALL.

sessions is Trump's illegal immigration point man. HE'S A PIT BULL. GO SESSIONS!

so the questions are: What has sessions NOT done that President Trump couldn't do himself; and do you see why sessions is valuable to POTUS in the war on illegals?

The whole situation is murky to me, but I tend to agree with you on this:

There isn't a chance in hell that Donald J. Trump went through everything he's accomplished in the last 3+ years only to let himself be undermined by some slow-talking career politician from Alabama.

4. Pence becomes President.

5. The Dems make Hillary the new Speaker of the House.

6. Dems impeach Pence.

7. 2016 Election reversed. Hillary is now President.

ARRRRGH!

“Word to the wise ... if you took Donald Trump at his word, then Bowe Bergdahl would have been dropped from an airplane at 30,000 feet without a parachute by now. I’m just sayin’ ...”

Good point. And Hillary would be in jail.

If anyone is curious to know what Trump really thinks of Jeff Sessions’ job performance, they will need to plant a listening device in the Oval Office during a one-on-one between the two men.

Or, they could go by what he says on Twitter for a couple hundred million people to hear. LOL.

"Him calling her “beautiful” has to be a message, like, “she’s the one that’s going to be arrested”

Maybe President Trump saw Nellie Ohr's face photoshopped on on the babe on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit edition.

President Trump has a lot of dirt on theses bad actors and will be releasing it at the end of September before the election. what we have coming is not a October surprise but a October revelation that will devastate the demacrat party...

Sounds fabulous, but except for conservative sites, NO ONE will report it, and there are still almost half the electorate who still only listen to the lamestream media, who will not report a word of it. One of the most frustrating things about Trump’s presidency, is that the MSM REFUSES to report anything positive about him. It’s MADDENING!

My theory is that Sessions is working on a Top Secret plan to destroy the Dems with an October Surprise just before the midterms. The Dems think that old Sessions is not up to his game and cannot get his act together. Trump adds to the impression with his Tweets that throw them off from any suspicion. They think that they have it made as long as Trump keeps Sessions. They will let their guard down and let slip more revelations that will put them through the wringer when the surprise 3 AM knocks at the doors begins. I am hoping it happens with popcorn balls and Halloween candy.

How are the Dems going to get two thirds of the US Senate to vote to remove Trump(or Pence for that matter) from office, given that the Dems are almost guaranteed to lose US Senate seats in November and will probably have fewer than 45 seats post November?

Trump got just 41% of the female vote.

That was a full 3% below Romney.

And, turn out by Republican women in 2016 (Trump) was a full 1% below GOP female turn out in 2012 (Romney).

We cannot afford to carelessly throw away a single vote in 2018 and 2020.

Who is going to cover this October Surprise besides Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Free Republic?

80% of the voters will never even hear about it.

And how would that be different ( ie: replacing AG Sessions with an appointee)

It would give US Senators who pretend to support Trump a reason to join the opposition. It would anger that element in the Deplorable community which respects AG Sessions and doesn't like President Trump insulting him.

The judges don’t get to say anything? C’mon. Look at all the issues where judges “don’t get to say anything” where they’ve single-handedly over-ruled the President.
