Cracks may be starting to show in Xi Jinping's absolute rule over China because of Trump's trade war

The intensifying trade war between China and the US has caused a massive rift between the countries, but sources say tension is also rising internally among elite members of the Communist Party of China.

Over the past decade, President Xi Jinping has worked diligently to consolidate power and cement his rule over China, claiming control over the country' military and government and cracking down on all forms of political dissent.

In the process, Chinese propaganda has pushed hard on the portrayal of China as a strong, nationalistic country, with Xi at its core.

Several sources close to the government told Reuters that this aggressive branding had backfired, further provoking the US as it ramps up tariffs in one of the largest trade wars in economic history.

An anonymous government-policy adviser told Reuters of a growing concern among leadership that China's economic outlook had "become grim" as its relationship with the US deteriorated over trade.

"The evolution from a trade conflict to trade war has made people rethink things," the policy adviser said....

Xi with his attempt to emulate Mao with a cult of personality may not be so popular;
and his fall maybe as quick as his rise.

People in this country don’t realize how far backwards he bent to show Trump great deference, because the press here won’t talk about it. Trump and the First Lady were feted at the Forbidden Palace, something that has never happened with any other world leader in the history of China.

National socialists. They're not commies anymore. They're fascists. Maybe xi is trying to be hitler, or at least il duce.

Mao didn’t have to contend with the internet which allows information outside official channels, no matter how many firewalls the Chinese government might attempt to impose. Much like the printing press eventually toppled the monarchies of Europe thru distribution of ideas, the internet will, in time, kill entrenched Deep States.

Shanghai index is down nearly 25% from its highs this year, while our stock market is up YTD and barely off its highs. Yet our media acts like Trump is the crazy one and Xi the stable one.

I’m glad someone else recognizes that China went from Communism to Marxism, both of which are Marxist in nature.

Dictatorships actually respect strength and consistency. I read a book called Washington Station from a KGB insider which actually stated that the Soviet leadership preferred to deal with Reagan over Carter.

While they loved the weakness opportunities which Carter gave them to exploit, he was inconsistent. One day it was anything goes, the next day it was we're boycotting the Moscow Olympics over your invasion of Afghanistan.

Reagan, on the other hand, drew clear lines and warned them not to cross. They tried a time or two with little things and Reagan reacted exactly as he warned and they stepped back.

Many Chinese are old enough to remember the disaster that was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. Xi Jinping may be headed for a fast fall politically soon.

The stupid article seems like a wishful thinking bait.

The Business Insider had better focus on Trump bashing.

Reality, from the article:

"Brazil’s supplies will start to tighten by October, after months of record shipments. That’s also just about the time that U.S. crop gathering is under full swing. With no other growers really exporting enough to satisfy China’s demand, the nation will likely either buy from the U.S. or suffer through a shortage."
