This illustrates the immense ideological differences between us and them! The Constitution provides precisely the limitations on Governmental function necessary for a free & adventuresome people to prosper & thrive. Our problems flow, almost entirely, from the efforts of those who want to impose their personal wish lists on others, to get around the Constitutional definitions & purposes.

The Amerian Left, today, exhibit the same Compulsion For Uniformity, as the Jacobins who inflicted the "Reign Of Terror" on France in 1793. The article makes the point--perhaps not the point intended,

Nice graphic.

If we ever elected a president directly with the national vote, then we would basically have our presidents chosen by people who live in NYC, Chicago and LA.

The Electoral College was pure genius by our founding fathers.

Also, we actually DO elect our presidents with the popular vote. But we hold separate "popular vote" elections in each of the 50 states and the winner of each state is accorded electoral votes that are proportionately assigned based on that state's population.

The Left is now—and always has been—about imposing their personal wish lists on the rest of us. The fact that the Government was simply never entrusted with the sort of functions that would allow that, makes little difference to the never logically driven little fanatics.

“These people want to replace the constitution with a form of communist manifesto. Surest way to civil war i can think of.”

They won’t need to go that far. That’s the front of the curtain stuff. They will continue to rule and regulate through their judges and bureaucrats, endorsed and amplified by the media.

They also know they control all police, government systems and communication. There is nothing we can do, and mostly we just talk.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.

I swore an oath to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foriegn and domestic. There is no expiration date on that oath. When people call the Constitution an outdated relic, that makes it easy. They are self identifying as my enemy. So be it.

It is so hard to fathom these people. Why would anyone saw off the limb they are sitting on? The Constitution is the Social Contract that has thus far prevented us from exterminating them.

Consider a few facts: Donald Trump is in the White House, despite winning almost three million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton.

And Hillary Clinton received the nomination for presidential candidate from the Democrat National Committee, despite winning fewer votes than Bernie Sanders in the primaries, what's your point?

“Donald Trump is in the White House, despite winning almost three million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton.”

So what? STATES cast electoral votes NOT individuals. Somebody fundamentally fails to understand that obviously. We are a Republic with a representative democratic form of government - not one vast consolidated Democracy.

“The Senate, the country’s most powerful legislative chamber, grants the same representation to Wyoming’s 579,315 residents as it does to 39,536,653 Californians.”

So what? That was the deal that was agreed to in order to get the smaller states to agree to ratify the constitution. They knew damned good and well that if votes and power were accorded strictly on the basis of population, they (the smaller states) would be ignored. The major population centers would get all the attention from politicians as well as all the special favors from government while the smaller states were ignored and treated as little more than cash cows. Without these provisions, the smaller states would never have agreed to ratify the constitution in the first place.

“Key voting rights are denied to citizens in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and other United States territories.”

So what? If citizens in US Territories really want to be able to have federal representation, they are free to move to states. DC is a different case, their votes are counted in Maryland’s total so they in fact DO have federal representation.

“The American government is structured by an 18th-century text that is almost impossible to change.”

False. There have been 26 amendments. 16 amendments after the initial Bill of Rights. Its not impossible to change. Its difficult. What its impossible to do is to get the change you Leftists want. Tough crap.

What you cite are not ills.

Democracy in any of its forms was not the objective either when the Constitution was drafted, or in virtually any of the government actions up to about the time FDR tried to apply the “National Recovery Act” on the then-moribund United States of America, reeling from the Great Depression.

Supposed to be a popular program, the National Recovery Act, patterned on the populist activitism of Mussolini’s Fascist Italy, trampled on a number of the provisions of the Constitution, and the principle of “democracy” was repudiated temporarily, when it was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. But not for long, as FDR and his “Brain Trust” rammed through most of the provisions covered by the National Recovery Act piecemeal, all the while making the already Great Depression even more depressed. The US was in a deeper depression in 1938 than it was in 1933, and only the outbreak of hostilities in Europe and elsewhere spurred the revival of America’s industrial might.

“the subversion of democracy was the explicit intent of the Constitution’s framers”

RIGHT ON!!!! Absolutely true, and so rare for a Marxist to understand that!
Democracies will always result in Cuba, Zimbabwe, Venezuela when citizens know they can vote for the government to give them money, and as Margaret Thatcher said, the only problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money.

Even worse, Lenin said the goal of socialism is indeed communism. Bet the leftist never admit that one..........

Without the 10-20 million illegal and fraudulent votes for Hillary rotten clinton, the whole of our corrupt stasi state working on her behalf, and the 40 billion in free advertising from the propaganda media, Trump would have won all 50 states.

Looking at the county map, I’m encouraged to see that while both Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas, Pittsburgh and Nashville are light blue, they are absolutely ringed with suburbs that are deep red. Jacksonville, Louisville, Mobile, Tulsa, Chatannoga and Tampa are red as are most of the other cities in the South. So is Indianapolis, Cincinatti and Phoenix. Not all larger cities are blue as the MSM tries to claim. Its Chicago, Miami, the Northeast corridor and the Left Coast where that’s true - not so much elsewhere.

The Constitution WILL save us. In specific, the second article in the Bill of Rights will do so. IMO, the reality of the Second Amendment is, right now, protecting the USA and much of the rest of the world from rapid descent into tyranny.

Which is why the tyrants hate the USA and the NRA.
