USSF: The newest branch of the U.S. military, the United States Space Force, became a reality on Thursday with an announcement by Vice President Mike Pence to an audience at the Pentagon.
U.S.S.F. becomes the sixth military branch of service, the first one created since the U.S. Army Air Corps became the Air Force shortly after World War II.
“The time has come to establish the United States Space Force,” Pence announced, noting that during the last great war, America rose to meet substantial military challenges posed by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Part of meeting — and defeating — those two powers required adapting to the realities of modern warfare, hence the dramatic expansion of the Air Corps.
Pence clearly laid out not only the vision of the Space Force but also why now is precisely the time to create it.

Funny thing, the USAF space school did refer to the students as space cadets. Not formally, but we loved to joke about it.

The were in the Heinlein novel of that name. I believe that is where the term came from.
The space cadets in the novel were top rate.

Starting with the first launch we've had military assets in space. It's a great idea given the reliance on satellites. I would hope we have offensive capability to destroy enemy assets in space now.

According to those UFO people on TV the US has a very large Space Fleet in Orbit, 4 huge ships bigger the 2 football fields and dozens of smaller craft ,LOL

Question being...will there be an inspection team of Space Cadets to attempt to find water in and around Uranus? I dunno, just asking.
