New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is slamming conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch and Fox News, saying that we would be a more unified country" without their influence.
If you could remove News Corp from the last 25 years of American history, we would be in an entirely different place," de Blasio told The Guardian last week before he spoke at an event in New Orleans, adding that he believes Murdoch is responsible for President Trump's election in 2016.
De Blasio said if it weren't for Murdoch and Fox News, "we would not be suffering a lot of the negativity and divisiveness were going through right now."
In the interview with The Guardian, de Blasio discussed a range of topics, from his vision for progressive politics to the midterm elections this November.
He also voiced strong disapproval for Trump's rhetoric regarding the media, saying "there is no comparison between a progressive critique of the media and overwhelmingly corporate media, by the way and a president who does not believe in free speech and is trying to undermine the norms of democracy."
"If you see a steady decline in democracy, were going to have to vividly defend a lot of media we dont agree with," de Blasio added. "But I dont want to give them a free pass on what they have done to all of us.
Fox News isn't the only entity owned by Murdoch that de Blasio has gone after this year. The mayor said in May that The New York Post is "divisive" and that he wouldn't "shed a tear if that newspaper is no longer here.
Fox News, which was once again the most-watched cable news network in July, is known for its supportive coverage of Trump, with hosts such as Sean Hannity consistently defending the president. Hannity has also echoed Trump's charge that much of the media is "fake news."
“Next time I see that grinning douche Chris Hahan, Im going to hurl.”
Yeah, he’s a real “prince,” isn’t he! Even his “five o’clock shadow” beard is an improvement. Then there’s Richard Goodstein (whom I refer to as Richard Dickstein, a double negative) in honor of the character Moe Dickstein that was played by Joe Piscopo in the movie “Wise Guys!”
“Kommrade De Blasio should run in a small rural town.”
In Venezuela!
FNC’s pandering to the Left must mean they’re now attempting to go head to head with CNN for the bottom of the Liberal pile, ya think?
p
“Prepare to be assimilated.”
But no mention of Rachel Maddow, Morning Joe Ball, Jim Acosta, Van Jones, Media Matters or Joy Ann Reid?
I doubt that.
We would be a more unified country if we could eliminate hatred of America, along with liberal, progressive, totalitarianistic thinking that criminal enterprises like socialism, communisim and that which shall not be named are acceptable in any form or shape. Shame on those who promote such criminal ideology. And it is criminal, it eliminates self-reliance and self-respect of the individual and creates serfs and slaves to be destroyed by the whim of corrup elite overlords whose power comes not from the people, but from propaganda, violence and rioting which they call protests. No freedom does not come from these miserable desperate hate filled ideologies that hold the individual in contempt and strives to reprogram or destroy the indivual who doesn’t tow the ideology of the overlords.
Much of what these ideologies (socialism, communism and that which shall not be named) consider to be legal are considered crimes in a civilized society. It has nothing to do with taking care of and promoting equality for the unfortunate, it has to do with taking away from anyone who has anything and creating equal poverty for everyone except the overlords who hold all the power. It is not equal at all.
yes commies and socialists and tyrant scum always want full control via enforced ‘unification’
Clown probably things he can fly away to some safe corner of the world if the Freedom Reformation comes to America - wont work Bill.
