De Blasio slams Murdoch, Fox News: 'We would be a more unified country' without them

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is slamming conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch and Fox News, saying that “we would be a more unified country" without their influence.

“If you could remove News Corp from the last 25 years of American history, we would be in an entirely different place," de Blasio told The Guardian last week before he spoke at an event in New Orleans, adding that he believes Murdoch is responsible for President Trump's election in 2016.

De Blasio said if it weren't for Murdoch and Fox News, "we would not be suffering a lot of the negativity and divisiveness we’re going through right now."

In the interview with The Guardian, de Blasio discussed a range of topics, from his vision for progressive politics to the midterm elections this November.

He also voiced strong disapproval for Trump's rhetoric regarding the media, saying "there is no comparison between a progressive critique of the media — and overwhelmingly corporate media, by the way — and a president who does not believe in free speech and is trying to undermine the norms of democracy."

"If you see a steady decline in democracy, we’re going to have to vividly defend a lot of media we don’t agree with," de Blasio added. "But I don’t want to give them a free pass on what they have done to all of us.”

Fox News isn't the only entity owned by Murdoch that de Blasio has gone after this year. The mayor said in May that The New York Post is "divisive" and that he wouldn't "shed a tear if that newspaper is no longer here.”

Fox News, which was once again the most-watched cable news network in July, is known for its supportive coverage of Trump, with hosts such as Sean Hannity consistently defending the president. Hannity has also echoed Trump's charge that much of the media is "fake news."

Obama: “It used to be that in the United States that there were three television stations, basically everybody watched the same thing, everybody got their news from the same sources, and so everybody had more or less a similar view of the world. But today because of, first cable television, and then now the internet, people have 500 channels to choose from. And they are able to find the news that fits their views instead of fitting their views to the news, so that they are very biased in terms of how they see things.”

Yes, he really said that.

Even the communists had at least 2 newspapers
If Hitler was in power how many news networks would he allow?

Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and Castro had more “unified” countries, too. This is what all these totalitarians dream of.

I think the democrats are more the fascist model
Control their donors who are business and corporate cronies and through them control what is allowed to be delivered to the public
Intimidate and ruin any businesses and individuals that do not cooperate with the State by turning loose mobs of antifa and boycotters

I don’t WANT to be unified with liberals.
I want to see them out of my country or, better yet, off of our planet.

"Unified" means "Everyone must follow the pronouncements of The State without questioning".

Oh BS.

More unified? Dems’ whole idea is “DIVIDE and conquer”. They should love this.

If it WAS more unified, what would be the nature? Oh, yes, strict unification under your Commie dogma, as only commies can be unified!

Democrats don’t have a utopian vision, they have a dystopian vision.

They don’t want to cure ills, they want to force their ills on everyone else.

The Mayor is not an American. He is a New Yorker

America would be much better off if he were dead and gone. he must never be President

I try to only watch an hour or 2 of news in the early morning. Fox and friends. They are a bit insipid but not as dumb as Joe and Mika. They definitely has not slip leftward. I have yet to see Laura Ingraham…she was always right of center. Fox STILL has Hannity though. I haven’t seen him since he was paired with Combs, but I do listen for about an hour a day on the radio. No one media guy right of him except perhaps Rush.

Of course Fox has the whiny leftist Shep. So there you have your major gay leftist news speaker at Fox.

De Blasio says Trump “is trying to undermine the norms of democracy.”

how ridiculous can u get, when it’s the Dems and the FakeNewsMSM which refuses to accept the legitimate results of the 2016 election?

That's the RAT party, viz. "unity" is the elimination of conflicting dialogue. If we concede, i.e., grant them the right of monologue, then we're unified.

The irony? All liberals are ok with this. They don't care who suffers as long as they're in control. And RAT voters are mostly too stupid to understand this.

I guess smoking all that dope clouds their thinking.

If only we could stifle our opponents, trample on their freedom of speech and/or throw them into “re-education” camps, we’d be more “united”. - said by pretty much every tyrant in history

****“we would be a more unified country”****

But we are a more diversified country because of it. Isn’t that what we have heard all of these so many years? that diversity is our strength?

Sit and spin Blowhole.

Same as North Korea, Cuba, and the old Soviet Unions are (were) “unified” when the government controlled the press.

In this case, most major news outlets support the Democrat Socialist agenda, they all speak with the same voice.

We have a very serious media problem....globalist socialist control almost all of it now, which means we have very few American news voices left. We are in trouble.
