Should make for some pretty impressive camera shots during the Space Force/Army game.

Will they use Air Force style ranks or Navy style ranks (i.e., “Star Fleet”) I wonder? This is a chance for Melania, Ivanka and Tiffany to get their favorite designers revved up designing out-of-this-world uniforms.

Oh please no, they’d design something incredibly gaudy.
As for ranks, the sci-fi audiobooks I listen to are usually always naval ranks. The ships that are capable of carrying troops usually have marines/space marines by name.

I know this both serious and a good idea but I can't help but remember the space rangers' battle in the movie

The details on this are very much needed. Is this an attempt to divert more Pentagon funding to NASA?
US space policy generally is confused at best. ISS is approaching its’ end. Manned missions to Moon and Mars?

Looks like Pence is taking charge of it for when he’s in charge.

They do quite a bit behind the scenes.

I hope President Trump makes Giorgio Tsoukalos, from the TV show Ancient Aliens, the Space Forces first Secretary.

Silly! The Air Force is running the Stargate program and handling the recovered alien technology. Space Force ranks definitely follow Air Force, not Navy.

As a small boy in the 50's the idea of space travel captivated us. Heinlein's juvenile book,
fueled our imaginations.
Interesting how reprint cover art was upgraded to reflect and extrapolate space tech at the time of publication.

I assume, like after WW2 when the Army Air Corp became the USAF, that many current personnel of various services will probably find themselves suddenly out of the Air Force or the Navy and in the Space Force. Some may not be too happy about that, especially if they were in a rotational assignment through a Space Command facility and expected to go back to a more traditional billet afterwards. Oops, no more planes for you!

"As for ranks, the sci-fi audiobooks I listen to are usually always naval ranks. The ships that are capable of carrying troops usually have marines/space marines by name." Should be Navy. The Navy has far more experience with crew assignments that last for months in hostile environments (think boomers), and the logistics to keep things up and running a LONG way from "home". AF and Army....not so much!
